Re: My 65 Pickemup project
Hey hey, ya I gotta get my fat ass out to the garage and take some pics. The chassis is back together in powdercoat. Just realized that I have 73-87 spindles, so I have to go get some new ones and get them coated. I'll get some pics up in the mornin.

Re: My 65 Pickemup project
Why do you not want the '73-'87 spindles?

Re: My 65 Pickemup project
They don't work with the ball joints Nate sends with the PB arms.

Re: My 65 Pickemup project
Well that's just too easy. I've always wanted a square body, so now I have a set of spindles for one. LOL

Re: My 65 Pickemup project
Well I didn't get as much done as I wanted but it's a start. Fresh ring, pinion, bearings and seals. I like having a day off, it's fun.

Re: My 65 Pickemup project
Delmo, is your truck a small hump floor or a high? If its a small what do you plan to do for clearance of the bell-housing. Just asking for idea's, mines a small hump floor.
Thanks |

Re: My 65 Pickemup project
Hey bro, mine is a high hump floor. Are you having clearance issues with the small hump? I suppose I would fab up a new tunnel using the original flange if I had. I just assumed I would have tons of room with the high one, hope thats the case. Let me know how you make out.

Re: My 65 Pickemup project
Well i might just look for a high hump section to replace mine to keep it factory looking. If its just a small issue i will cut out and fab a section in. I have'nt got to the drivetrain install yet just trying to prepare.
Thanks man |

Re: My 65 Pickemup project
I just came across this posting and WOW! I'm about to build mine very similar. Debating on the Porterbuilt or just Z'ng the frame. Also going with the smoothie wheels and caps myself. Gonna build it just as it sits now. But of course layed out ;-)
Very clean look! ![]() -Keith |

Re: My 65 Pickemup project
I'll look up that Scottsdale show, that would be a great shakedown run. I'm assuming it's not going to be 4000 degrees there in November? LOL
Silverado, beautiful truck man. Can't wait to see what ya do with it. Creep, I'll measure that today for ya, it's pretty close. |

Re: My 65 Pickemup project
Thanks Delmo! Wish I lived in Cali because I sure would get you to help me do my caps on my smoothies. I'd prolly get 'em on not totally center and they would wobble going down the street

Re: My 65 Pickemup project
Na you can do it man, measure twice drill once. Build a perfect circle with a center punched center to put in the center of the wheel. Use this to scribe a small scrtach around the wheel with a compass.
Well I built some exhaust today and got the cab back on for the final time. Now I can start gettin this thing together. Hopefully have it runnin by the weekend. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
