The back isn't done in the pics. I'll post pics of the completed rear later today.

I,m sorry i need to word that better. On the front end. the frame where the cross member is. will the frame flex ? When you raise the frame with the air bags . What i,m seeing is that the motor will be the support.

The front crossmember ties the frame rails together and the motor mounts to the crossmember.

I want to ask why you're switching front ends, but I won't. Is the back half staying the same?

Re: 1971 project

Ready to install the front end from Scott's Hot Rods. I've seen allot of fab work and this is as good as it gets. Everything is tig welded and the welds are a thing of beauty...sucks to cover them up with coating

Re: 1971 project

I put the truck build on hold quite a while back to work on other projects but my interest has shifted back to the truck. Here's a couple that will be on hold now.

Roadglide with full air ride, front and rear, with 26" PM wheel.

Yamaha XS650 bobber.

Re: 1971 project

Is there a reason you went from PB to Scotts? Just curious as I someday will be doing the DM and want to know if there was any hidden issues with your PB stuff.

The whole Porterbuilt experience was bad for me. 2 month build time and the only reason I got it that quick was I told him I wanted my money refunded. The LS1 was hitting the firewall on the passenger side and trans tailshaft was off center over 6" in the frame. The upper a arm bushings were cut wrong twice. I had to pay someone to fix the mess to the tune of around 500.00 and no offer of compensation was made.

Now the Scott's Hot Rod experience was the exact opposite. Ordered it on a Friday and picked it up the next Saturday. The fit, finish and packaging is far superior to the PB in my opinion. The style of the Scott's Super Slam fits my style much better. I prefer the "street rod" style over the "mini truck" style.

Re: 1971 project

Got the Scott's Super Slam installed Sunday. Fits like a glove. My fabricator buddy asked why I didn't buy this front end from the get go

Have to fill the frame where the old rack notch used to be.

All the hardware is top notch. No need to stack washers under the nuts.
