My next big endeavor is to get a roll bar into the cab. Just a rear hoop and then door hoops to the front. So it would be a 4 point roll bar with floor plates at the front and rear corners.

So some thinking questions here... What do you guys think I should do?:

1. Re-inforce the undercab and connect the roll-bar foot plates to just the cab itself?

2. Add plates to the frame and bolt the bar foot plates thru the cab floor to the frame?

I agree with #2, Have seen a few rollovers with floor plates not turn out very well.

Yea have planned on connecting the front legs with a tube across behind the dash. Have to fit my air conditioning first!!! LOL

Been working and playing with the truck here and there.... Still working on the bed getting things done. Got all the patch work done on the side panels and all the holes welded up. The neighbor took his welder back for a while on some of his own MOPAR projects.... so Im down on the metal work for now.

Got the new tailgate mounted with the hidden latches and the MAR-K hidden hinges. Everything went together pretty easily working with new stuff. Got the rear rail uprights all cleaned up and then mocked up the new LED tail-lights that fit just perfect on there. Was thinking of 'frenching' them in but... this is just an old race truck, not some show queen!

I mounted up the new fenders tight and I am starting work on the new bed framing that will hopefully support it all and make it only a 4 BOLT mounting to the frame. With quick disconnects for the lights and other stuff in there, its going to be the only way to change tires!!! I hope I never get a rear flat on the highway! Thats what AAA is for right?

Also tried some new and different rims on the rear for when Im OFF-track.... These are 18" DIA x 15" wide rims!!! I can get a deal on them but finding tires to fit is the hard part. Even M/T stopped making the 30x15x18" radial tires.... thats a bummer.

Recently completed the rear Wilwood brake system installation onto the 9" FORD rear housing. This dude is gonna stop as fast as it goes!!!!

I chose to go with the Wilwood Dynalite Series 4-piston Calipers and the 12.19" Dia. x 1.25" rotors on the rear because it is a truck and not much weight back there anyway. I also went with non-drilled rotors because they will last a lot longer with what I am doing with them. I have found from my 'road-racing track experience' that the drilled rotors crack really early with all the heat cycling. These are aluminum hats also and they are universal for 3 lug patterns.

Heres some more pics of the tailgate install and the LED tailights I found and used. These are trailer lights - Brake, Tail, Turn and they are like 15" long and 1.25" wide.

and got my new CALI plates !!!! I am erasing the dmv.com crap on there - why should I advertise for them!!!

Looks good! Really like the Wilwood brakes. The tail lights will be very noticable.

Thanks guys! - I think the cab is going to be going on this weekend so I can start getting things a bit more mocked up for the roll bar and all the inner workings inside of it....

Ill have to 'entice' a few extra workers to come over with some smoked tri-tip, baked beans, grilled potato salad and some cold beverages! mmmm!

Ok so we got the cab on this weekend and I finished up some of the little PIA things that needed to be done to move this forward a bit more.

So out with the old Chebby 3600 frame and in with the new custom "PTC frame"!

Hoisted it up and moved it onto the new one.

And a shot of my crew!!! 2nd and 3rd generation hot rodders!

I am way too excited!... already had a milkcrate in there with the grandson on my lap and we were already cruising the boulevard! (in my mind)

Well I guess I gotta get serious now.... the wife told me (after Ive been sluffing off for the past couple weeks waiting on a neighbors welder) "If ya need some proper tools then just go buy them and get back to work"....

OK!!!!!

So I got me some new tools!!!

230V Welder 175 Mig Gas
230V Plasma Cutter
Sand Blasting cabinet
San Blasting Pot
and all the gear to with this stuff

Plus a new creeper, welding cart, helmet, apron, gloves, hammer/dolley set, brake vac and tube bender.... whew.... shopping spree.

Cant wait till next month when the bill comes in!!!!
