Re: 1971 Chevy C10 SWB - Elizabethtown, Ky

Got the tailgaite painted. Decided to take the extra step and paint the Chevrolet lettering with the same color as the top vs buying the white lettering. I think it looks a lot nicer. Also got the heater hoses and upper radiator hose on. Having a ton of trouble finding a lower radiator that wont hit the frame rail. I have seen several different part numbers listed, but no luck.

Re: 1971 Chevy C10 SWB - Elizabethtown, Ky

I was going with a Custom Auto Sound Radio. Heard both good and bad things, so we will see I guess. Just wanted AM/Fm and a way to hook the iPod up. Had an opportunity over two weekends ago to talk to some guys that installed them at an autosound place and they said they didn't see much trouble with them. My second pick was the retro brand. They were a little pricey, though.

It'll be a while before I'm ready for mine... I'll check your opinion on your choice when the time comes for me to order mine.

Interested in knowing your opinion on the stereo. I was very close to ordering the USA-230 but read too many negative things about it. I just really need a tuner. Planning on just running my phone directly to my amp until I find a good FM solution.

Progress is looking good!

Re: 1971 Chevy C10 SWB - Elizabethtown, Ky

I will let you all know. I was skeptical, but it was alot cheaper than the retro. I also order the hidden amplified antenna they offer and the dash speaker set. I plan on changing those out to something a little better. The dash speaker set was 30 bucks, so I figured I couldn't make a plate for that. I order the USA230 stereo, so we will see.

Your paint looks excellent, the tailgate with the white letters is very nice. Also interested on how you like the new radio.

Re: 1971 Chevy C10 SWB - Elizabethtown, Ky

Lots done Saturday. Worked 12 hours pretty much non-stop. Lots of wiring done, which I wont bore everyone with the photos, but hopefully will get some completed pics. Got the dash speaker in, radio in, glove box liner and glove box door in. RCA's and remote turn on lead ran to the back of the cab. Also installed a hidden antenna. I'm a little skpetical about that, but we'll see I guess. More wiring to go and hopefully I can fire it up and test everything out. Head lights and complete back end is finished. Dome light, courtesy lights, glove box light, cig. lighter, ignition, heater control, headlight, wiper, main harness ran out towards motor starting all that fun stuff now. l
