Re: 67 gmc-project ball to the walls

Damn right its mint,

pulled the masking off today and cleaned up and got to say the body looks real good, the sealer seams to be hiding lots so im happy with it. I will have to get a pic with all the masking off it. Tonight i did more body work on my box and am out of filler again so need to order some more of that up. I also painted my headers white tonight and they look great so later this week i will throw them in the oven and let them bake. I also snaped a pic of my new aluminum pullys and later on this week i will powder coat them black.

Re: 67 gmc-project ball to the walls

that mint is really starting to grow on me...

any plans for some pin stripes or lettering, denoting it as being "mint"?

all in all man, it's gonna be an awesome summer cruiser.

Re: 67 gmc-project ball to the walls

Well i was able to drop the engine in on friday so i am now that much closer to fireing it up. I also won a very cool item on ebay to go on my 4 speed, its a mr.gasket vertigate or slap stick shifter for my tranny. I will post pictures as soon as i get the shifter.

The plan for this week is to get my tranny rebuilt, get the engine wireing and plumbing done and maybe i will put my seats in the truck.

Anyways here is a pic of the motor sitting in the truck.

Re: 67 gmc-project ball to the walls

I cant wait to hear this thing start. I have been talking about fireing it for awhile but thursday is the day. I got the flywheel re surfaced today so the tranny, clutch and flywheel can now go in and all i will be missing is the linkages and i have to make a driveshaft maybe but with the tranny in i wil be able to fire it up and break it in. I ordered in all new tie rood sleeves and ends and an idler arm so there going in tommorow. I cant wait for the end of this week.

Re: 67 gmc-project ball to the walls

The flywheel go bolted on today and i put the side cover on my tranny so its ready for the shifter, bell housing and clutch. I also got my rad hoses on and got the right size belt and put it on. Tommorow the tranny goes in and i have to wire up my coil and figure out my ignition switch and then its fireing time.

Re: 67 gmc-project ball to the walls

man.

I am stoked to hear this!

This is one of my favorite builds, just because it's so pure. Pure in the sense that...it has a hot motor, manual tranny, just a mean lookin'.

I await your post tomorrow with anticipation!

Re: 67 gmc-project ball to the walls

well ran into a few problems yesterday but the tranny is in and the motor runs but isnt broken in. I sumhow adjusted the valves so bad that i had piston to valve contact and bent a pushrod so im still pondering how i managed to do that but other then that and a leak at the oil pan it went alright.

I also had a hell of a time towing it home yesterday cause the wheels were out of allignment and i ended up tearing the bumper bolt holes on the frame when i was backing it into my driveway.

Ill post pics later today and hopfully post a video of it running once i fix the oil leak.

Re: 67 gmc-project ball to the walls

Well, atleast the push rod bent instead of it sucking a valve and toasting it.

I'm still stoked to hear it run, but glad nothing got hurt in the process.

Keep at it man, it's going to be awesome.

BTW me and my friend who adjusted the valves with me have come to the conclusion that someone messed with my valves. I built this truck at the school and there are a lot of kids in and out of the shop so it is very possible. Also there is no way we could have been adjusting valves and turning the engine over by hand if one of the valves was so tight that it contacted the piston. I wouldnt have been able to turn over the motor.

Really makes me wonder about some people i go to school with but nothing really bad came of it so i cant be too mad.

Catching the bumper on your way out of the shop door was definatly better then me tearing my bumper holes. I can weld up my frame but you will always see your bent bumper.

It actually bent back really well and you dont notice unless your looking for it
