You would install it the same as a 4-link. Lower bars level or close to it at ride height, upper bar point down slightly towards the cab.

Here's some from when I was building it.

I capped the front of the rails where they transition into the stock frame.

Here you can see I cut two 1" holes on each side of the frame where another cross member will go.

Now the cross member in place, and the initial pressure test of 120 PSI. I let it sit for 3 days to see if it would leak down over time. It's all TIG welded, and I didn't find any leaks. Over 3 days it lost 2 PSI. I figure it was either in a fitting, the schraeder valve, the gauge, or a pinhole too small to detect. I later tested it to 200 PSI and let it sit for about 20 hours with no change in pressure.

Here's that cross member. I spaced the ports out so that the valves van be mounted to the frame.

And a last shot of it installed.

Got in some Tech Flex so I finished up the wiring. First shot is the valve wiring. Second is the power wiring. Third a close up of the Tech Flex I mentioned. Fourth is the switch box wired up and the bulk under the carpet.

I was originally planning on making my back-half an air tank. But I went the other route because i was worried about getting it all sealed up.

Are you talking about the one that I just finished? Because that one does not run, and it's on T'd lines with schraeder valves. It wouldn't make for an exciting video.

And the other one is still on jack stands with no wheels on it.

Awesome fab work! I dont suppose you'd hint me to where i might find some short limiting straps like that. All the ones ive found are for rediculous ammounts of travel. It would be much appreciated!

Check out Poly Performance. They make the ones I use, and you can order them in black or red, and in 1" increments starting at 6" I think. They measure eye to eye and use a 1/2" bolt. They will also do you a custom length set you just have to wait a few extra days.

Should have more pictures tomorrow. I'm in the middle of Z'ing the frame right now.

ok read this fully before assuming im saying somethin wrong..
you dont do "good work"
you attention to detail and all the the subtle hints are awesome.. just incredible..
an then you dont just do "one thing" in one spot to show off..
you repeat the design to complete the entire visual package..
the welds are also.. just damn good dude.. wish i could weld like that..
you do an incredible job.. "good" is an insult..


too bad i havent seen an 4x4 stuff from you... i might have to sell one of my children off for that work...

I actually grew up doing nothing but 4x4 stuff. My uncle had a shop until I was 16. I used to have pictures of some of the things I have done for 4WD, but my computer crashed about 6 months back, and I have nothing left. And I have done no 4WD work since then. I have something potentially coming up in about two months, but I don't want to talk about it an jinx it. They usually don't come through once I start talking like it's a sure thing.

Doing the frame Z now. First two shots show cutting out, and smoothing the VIN stamp that protrudes from the frame. It gets in the way of plating the frame. Third shot shows the frame cut and moved up.




First shot here shows the Z fully boxed. Second is the VIN welded back onto the frame, and last is an overall shot.

Is the toyota getting triangulated LCAs like the ones posted on page 2? If so, is there a way to determine haw far apart you'd put the two bushings? or just whatever fits best?

I'm doing it a bit different on this one, and actually keeping the strut rods. But normally I would push the bushing out as far as possible without interfering with anything. The wider the arm is the more stable it is. I just want to try something different with this one, and make the strut rods work with the Z, since I am doing a tech article for MT on this.

I'm basically just modifying what is already there. I just want to show that this could be done over a weekend with some friends if your truck is already bagged. Even though I sell control arms that eliminate the strut rod on these trucks. Lol.
