Another plug to check and make sure is in place is the one on the deck just behind #7 cylinder.

You are moving along fast. I just primered my cab with slick sand my arms are tired. Slick sand is thick for a 1.8 tip. I had to reduce it with acetone. I think I'm going to get better doors instead of redoing mine. How did you flit the cab to get to the bottom?

I just pushed it up on the fire wall. I put a couple 2x4s in front of it to get it to lean even more. What kind of gun are you using? I need to buy a real one. I bought mine from Lowes for $39 worked good after I took the air drier off.

It's called ATP? It was a kit of three guns for 80 bucks at my local auto store. I couldn't tell you if it's good or bad but for what I use it for they have turned out great. My arms are still sore from all the primering.

Wait till you start sanding. Is the biggest tip a 1.8? I'm getting closer to putting on some slicksand. Still trying to fix a spot in the hood where some fat chick sat. Your cab looks to be in good shape. Mine was a rust bucket. I should be getting my door bottoms this week. We'll see how that goes. I want to be able to get inside the doors and spray them. I sanded a little and my son came over to help with some filler work. Slick sand sands real nice even with 150. Yes the biggest tip was a 1.8. As for the rust bucket my truck was that till I cut and replaced all kinds of areas. The doors I think are shot so I'm going to find better ones.

Here I thought your truck was one of those few that are rust free. You did a good job. I had to put $500 in metal in mine, plus another $100 for the door bottoms. Oh and I still need two front fenders $400 more. Next time I'm going to Arizona to buy a truck. Might cost alittle in gas but I'm sure I'd be money ahead. Later

Parts fairy stopped by. Brought one of my door bottoms, I ordered two. They said the other one was back ordered. I see they still charged me for both. Been working on putting filler on and then sanding it off. It's surprising how many little dents you find. Kinda makes me wonder why I even primed it. Almost used a whole can just on the cab. Hope to get my cab ready off some slick sand by Monday. Still waiting on my "How build a chevy short block book". Get my steering column on the 27th. Been on the look out for some 6 lug 20". I don't know why everyone switches to 5 lugs there's lots of good 6 lug rims?

Thought about drilling some holes in my crossmember. Thats about as far as that got. Fixed my door bottom and hung both doors. Still need to fix the bottom of the one. Cleaned off my transmission, pulled out my rear end, sanded on some stuff.

Cut some holes in my cross member need to find some pipe so I can reenforce it. Recieved my steering column it did'nt come with the lower shaft. I found this one laying around I think it off a 77 chevy pickup. The problem is the ends are different sizes? Do I need to find a different lower end or can I make this one work. It is the kind that slides in and out. It's just the wrong diameter.

I it was a 79 van. I started to drill the holes with a 4" hole saw but I was'nt sure if it was for metal and I did'nt want to mess up my good hole saw. So I went with one of my favorates the mighty "Saws All" and a $3 metal blade. It worked good. Just cut what I could and ground the rest with a wornout grinding wheel. It turned out the 4" wheel was a metal one but it seemed to be taking to long. Around here 4" hole saw blade is about $25

Your moving right along. Nice progress. I wish I cut holes in my crossmember. Lazyitis hits me hard sometimes.

Fairy came today brought me my "How to book". Had to take half the day off so I could get some good reading in. Bought a different lower shaft from the parts forum. It's off a 71 measures 3/4" so it should work. Back to my reading I'm just getting to the good parts of what not to do.

Put my tilt column in. Had to move my dash apart alittle bit more to get it centered on the column. Not really sure what to do about the clutch petal? I'm going with a auto. transmission Should I just cut it off? Need to get a steering wheel puller so I can put my old wheel on my tilt column. Going to try and get the dash welded back together and mounted tomorrow.

Lookin good!

You should be able to just pull the whole clutch pedal assembly out of there. IIRC it goes thru the center of the brake pedal assembly.
