Re: project INCREDIBLE HULK
im over due for an update, so here it goes.....
got the cab corner on the dr side fitted and welded on... then with the majority of the metal work on the cab done, with a little help from my brother and friends, we pulled the cab off....after the cab was off, i preped the frame for surgery... it started life as a long bed, but is now a short bed.....this truck is gonna be on air so i c-nothed it, it rests in the notch when its aired out (which is 3")also got most the suspension here (with the exception of a few backordered parts)..... |

Re: project INCREDIBLE HULK
Quote:
- the air tank is long, and mounting it ( i breifly tried to find a good spot for it) will be kinda tricky.... but ill get er done.. - the rear air bag fully deflated is 3" tall, so we wanted the air bag mounting points to be 3" appart when aired out...to do this the rear axle needed to come up, thats part of the reason we c-notched it..the other reason we notched it, is cause we want about 4" of suspension travel ( altho we will have bout 5" of possible travel) - the kit is AWSOME, cant be any better IMO and no, we arnt playin around with this build!!! |

Very nice work!
You didn't kid around when you order from ART. You will have to let use know how those adjustable shocks work. |

Re: project INCREDIBLE HULK
powerwashed the frame to keep my hands and the new parts from getting dirty during mock-up.. tore-off the front and rear suspension and got the bags (all 4 corners) installed, drilled the bag mounting plates for the front, installed the lower tubular control arms, located and drilled the shock mounts, and finally assembled it all for mock-up (less the muscle-bar sway bar)

Re: project INCREDIBLE HULK
how did those rear plates and cups work, you think the rear end will still get just as low as it would it you bolted it in place of original spring... and was is a pain to drill the frame?
Also, on a sour note.. you heard anything on your truck, i've gotta go get mine one of these weekends, wish it was closer!!

Re: project INCREDIBLE HULK
grimss, i have no idea what greens those are.... might ask 71hulk....
got the air ride components all mounted..... tank is mounted under the cab, and the two compressors are about 1.5' behind that under the bed.. the valves are on the crossmember just behind the rear axle.... i ran the lines through the front crossmember and secured them by drilling and tapping a hole, installing a screw, and finally securing the line with a cushion clamp....it was time consuming, but i didnt want that line rubbing anything... next was time to mount the ride hight sensors.. where i mounted the sensors there was about a 1" gap that need a spacer made... so i got some round stock, cut it , drilled and tapped it, then welded it to the frame... it all came out looking good... here are a few pics... |

Re: project INCREDIBLE HULK
Nice work and great progress!
I really should order the LevelPro upgrade for my setup. The old "Ride Height to Start" feature from version one is marginal at best... |

Re: project INCREDIBLE HULK
what shocks are those? I've been thinking of some QA1 shocks for mine, but haven't really looked/measured enough to know which ones to get. Did the frame bracket come with the kit too?

Re: project INCREDIBLE HULK
killer it'll be painted..
got some motor mount ls1 adaptor plates, so i was able to mock-up the mock-up engine... and with this truck i set the motor 1" further back for 2 reasons 1) is cause these control arms are beefier then stock, and i fear the headers will interfer with them on the dr. side. and 2) cause we're gonna run a f-body oil pan for ground clearance....also got the center x-member drilled out and the trailing arms out, cause all this is gonna get replaced with new ECE stuff.. here are the pics |

Re: project INCREDIBLE HULK
If you use these headers, I don't think you'll have a problem with clearance, .

Re: project INCREDIBLE HULK
I wasn't trying to brag , I'm just excited that after 2 years of inquiries, we, (LS1 modders, ), finally have an awesome looking set of headers to complete are LS builds. BTW, did 71HULK finally pick up a motor worthy of the rest of the truck?
