Actually that is the finished product on the firewall unless I decide to paint it blue like most of the truck will be. Not sure on that yet.

Few more pictures of the progress we are making. We POR15ed the hood and then POR15 Primed it. Tomorrow we are going to sand it down and do the bodywork then High Build Primer it. The bed is the biggest job left to do and I hope to knock it out this weekend. The cab is just about done and ready to primer.

Redneck72,
I have the original 67 327 "Small Journal" that was in the truck and it only has 42K miles on it. I am going to tear it apart and inspect it to see if I need to send it to the Machinist. Part of me thinks that because its 40 some odd years old I probably should anyways. I am going to detail the Engine like I did both my Sons trucks. My Wife would kill me if I Adopted anyone because we almost have the last one out the door as we speak. Thanks for the Compliment.

Believe it or not we are now starting to do the bodywork on the hood. We did a layer of POR15 after we sanded some Surface Rust. Then we painted a POR15 Primer on so that the next layer will adhear to it. I hope to have the entire truck in High Build by next weekend. I have a lot of Sanding to do If I hope to get is Sprayed next weekend.

Got some more sanding done today. Looks like I sould be on line with the High Build but probably on Friday instead of Saturday. Things are coming together pretty good but had a major setback on my Sons 64 Shortwide yesterday. The gas tank nozzle leaked and ate the paint right off the side of the cab below the nozzle. The saving grace about that is we needed to revisit the back of the cab so I guess this just pushed up the time frame we were looking at. I will post a couple of pictures just to show you what happened. I was talking with a guy on the 60-66 link and he suggested an overflow much like what is used on a radiator system. Anyway here are some pictures.

Thanks and As for my Sons truck I will have you know that I showed great restraint when I saw it. I didn't throw anything or even cuss. I did let out a big sigh and said to myself this must be punishment for not doing the bodywork right the first time on this truck. Well I figure about a week of sanding and prep work then it will look like new again.

Bought the High Build Primer today and It looks like Friday is the shoot day. Has anyone used the UPOL Urethane High Build Primer? This is the first time Im going to try it and was wondering if anyone has used it? If so how did you like it and how did it sand as compared to the PPG High Build? I only paid $100 for a Gallon of it and that is about half what the PPG has cost me in the past. I hope the "GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR" doesnt bite me you know where. I am also going to try the UPOL clear coat and see how it works out. Has anyone shot OMNI+ base coat? I am going to be shooting most of the Truck Deep Water Blue Pearl which is a 2011 Dodge Color and Silver on the bottom from the Molding Down. I scored today, I picked up a new MAR-K molding set for the truck and the fasteners for $550. I haven't seen them that cheap anywhere and they look great. I have a lot of old molding so if anyone is looking for old molding in fairly good shape let me know.

Great build - on the paint questions, you might pose those over in the paint and body section - a lot of the body guys hang out over there, and you'd get some good feedback. Keep us posted and we love all the pictures -

Did some more sanding today. Just about got it done, just some touch ups. We decided to do some last minute bodywork on the tailgate. It had one heck of a dent in it and I took it outside and put it in between two 2x6's against the shop and used my Toyota 4x4 (4Low) with a 2x8 and the bumper and bent it back to where its supposed to be. It worked and now I just have to finish sanding the skim coat of filler I put on it. I did a little research on the High Build I am going to use. I can use the High Build with a little more reducer in it as the Sealer Coat. I am also going to tint it blue so It will already be moving in the direction of color I am going to use. Here are a few pictures of the forward progress. I know by looking at the pictures it looks like we are no closer to being ready to shoot the high build but by end of day tomorrow we will be set up and ready to shoot Friday Morning.

Clever use of the Toyota to get rid of the dent. It won't be long before you get to shoot color now. It's going to turn out great with all your prep!

I will take a picture of the back of the ignition when I get done shooting the high build primer today. I think I am going to take a few days off before I start sanding down the High Build just to let the bum shoulder heal a bit before I continue. Right now I am keeping Alieve In Business. My Sons have been laughing at me because Im not moving as fast with the bodywork because of my shoulder. I told them that I used to laugh at my Dad when He started slowing down and here I am having the exact same problems. I think when I am done with my 67 GTO Conv, and my 56 Chevy BBW Short Step I am going to start Restoring old Motorcycles. Thats a lot less bodywork and a lot lighter. Oh Yeah I forgot I still have a 1950 Willeys First Series pickup setting behind the garage I still need to restore, almost forgot about that one.

Taxing is the word, not so much awsome. I will of coarse change my mind when they are done but Im guessing that will be at least a couple of more years before they are all done.
