1986 suburban build with 6.0l swap

I'm not sure If anyone reads my build anymore but i'll update anyway

I had the ev1 to ev6 conectors delivered, tried them and they are wrong they fit on the injectors but not the harness.

I have a teaser pictures tho :rockon: They are not exactly how I wanted the but I guess they'll do. I like them. I HATE the line that cuts off the head rest to the side lumbars. but all and all this guy is incredible with a sewing maching. the rear seats look so amazing as well, he is dropping the rest off tomorrow and installing my pad and carpet

here is some more seat pictures. I'm mad at myself because I did not take any pictures before carpet. I spent 8 hours (I know because I timed it) to lay out almost 50sq feet of fat mat on the floor. I don't want any noise!! Ha Ha but Mike Harris came out and Installed my carpet and I took few pictures, I should have taken more. dash pad is getting wrapped with the double stitch "french seam", and all the door panels are getting wrapped and Double stitched. I hate the cheap feel of the door panels. am I going to far? Maybe! but I'm having fun lol

Thanks for the comments guys. this week i have finished the fuel system, finished the undercoating, instaled half the interior,installed front clip, and started the wiring and what a mess that is. I hope i can get it all working correctly LOL here is a ton of pictures. I scored some EV6 connectors so My friend Paul came out and soldered them in for me. while he was there he took some measurements and we designed my sub box for my 13W6v2. I am getting better at soldering but I did not wanna mess up an engine harness lol





I used the PCM mounting bracket out of my camaro to mount the pcm to the battery tray.

Cruise control Module fits under here just perfect.

Oil sending unit, I went to evco and bought a few different fittings to make it work. 16mm to -4an then -4an to 1/4-28 npt then oil sender lol its about 3' off the block which made it perfect height for changing if it fails

very nice build!! I am VERY impressed with how the seats came out. They are stock, but look much more modern with the material. I can't wait to see more progress, keep up the excellent work

4 more weeks Ha Ha I have so much to do still.

Finish wiring cruise control, tow haul, flush trans, install radiator correctly, wire the gauges, install interior, Exhaust, Stereo system, I have 100ft of LED lighting to install, Its still registered until the end of this month so i'm trying to hurry so I can take it for spin.

I got a few tings done this weekend, but not as much as I wanted. I sold my Yukon! Yay me lol I installed my new shift linkage from lokar, then broke it FML 130$ down the ****ter. think that six states will make me a new cable? any ideas? the link where it hooks my linkage to the trans is supposed to be a little loose so that it will pivot when the arm moves. well I tightened it and first attempt at shifting it it snapped the threads off the linkage.



And scratched my paint



Also I figured it would be a good idea to drop the trans pan and change the filter and this is what I found...



I would also like to add that the trans pan tried to kill me.. The drain plug was siezed in there, (part of the reason for dropping the pan) I took some degresser and cleaned the pan good and grabbed the map gas torch. after about 3 minutes, I graded the wrench and tried it, no budge. with the torch again for about 8 minutes with the torch i heard a slight hisss the bang like a gun shot, it exploded. I fell back luckily wearing my safety glasses, while a 4 foot diameter fire ball floated towards the cilling. then another bang and instantly filled my whole shop with a thick cloud of thick white smoke. I grabbed a fast breath and ran out of my shop. Can I just say **** that pan bolt. oh and the best part, it did no damage to the pan or the bolt. it looks normal. WTF was that all about?

You could use the theory 'when my tummy hurts I drink pepto bismol, maybe it will make my tranny feel better'. I'm not a doctor, but Pepto in the tranny doesn't look good.... You are making sweet progress though!!!

For the turbo do you know where your gonna mount it, possibly plan on hiding it or putting it in the open i personally would show it off but some people like a sleeper look

What are these for? I thought it was an internal tranny cooler but it looks like you have a B&M tranny cooler mounted in front of your rad.

The turbo will set in the passenger side of the engine bay, in front of the engine between the water pump and radiator. but off to the side a little towards the battery tray. all the exhaust piping will run under the engine. I want to keep the engine bay temps down to help with the extra heat from towing.

Those lines are for the internal trans cooler. When I find a cooler that I like I will mount it to my frame rails. I saved the area in front of the radiator for the intercooler. What you're seeing is the A/C Condenser. It was half way painted black already so I finished it off to make it look decent under the grille. I cant wait to see what the shinny Aluminum intercooler looks like behind the grille.

This weekend I accomplished Quite a few things.

1. I went to Six States and they made me a new shift linkage. its way better quality then the Lokar piece, but not as pretty. installed that and shifter worked threw all the gears properly. If anyone needs a lokar shift linkage Linky I have one for sale

2. I left the trans pan off all last week for the milk shake to run out. :sulk: installed the new trans filter and put the pan back on. I will go have the trans flushed after a few miles of driving. I think what happened was I forgot to plug one of the trans cooler fittings and water got in when I scrubbed down the trans.

3. Pulled the transfer case, replaced the torn gasket with black rtv silicone. and then reinstalled it. wired in the VSS sensor harness I got from, The Kelly. also hooked up the shift linkage for the trans case.

4. FINALLY, With some help from my friend Brett, I finished the engine bay wiring!!! I used zip ties to group it all together until I have put a few miles on the truck, to insure everything is working proper. well I still need to do the A/C wiring. But that will come with time. I have no need for A/c now.

Also last night was the first time I let it run long enough to get up to operating temps. my home made temp sender works great! all my gauges work and even my factory Check engine light was used. I'm using my camaros PCM to start the truck for now because I have yet to get the PCM I'm going to use tuned, so as you could imagine the truck runs a Little rough. :rofl: Hopefully Vince will have some free time Saturday to come up and tune this beast. About I need to do now is build my exhaust and I'll be driving this thing.

Vince came out to day and fixed up my PCM and ran diagnostics, Everything is functional like I planed it out, The first time!!!

First time driving the burb I noticed a slight rod knock, between 1200-1500 rpm. today while driving to the place I bought the motor from, the motor gave out, back to square one. looks like there will be no warranty on the engine as of now. when I bought the motor there was a gentlemen agreement about a warranty. I told the sales man that I would not have the motor running in time for the 30 day start up warranty. he said if there was any problems to come see him. talking to him today, it sounds like he said that to make a sale. I hope he will stand by his word. I have my start up video to show its not been ran until lately. well see what he says. next up 12v swap?!?!?!
