Re: My 1964 Suburban Project

No progress yet. Im bagging a 67 for another forum member. I originally wanted to build the full frame but I kinda took the easier route. I am spending alot of time making the transition from the new to the old frame flow well. I just really didn't want to jack with the steering box and all the brake lines, fuel lines and wiring to run through frame. I think I will be able to hide stuff nicely in the stock frame.

Re: My 1964 Suburban Project

Here are a few more pics of the body on the frame. I still have to cut the pinch off so it will lay rocker.

Your right hoffman. Thats the back seat. I am looking for the bigger part of the front seat if anyone knows of one.

Your right. Its just setting there. The place where it used to bolt had to be cut out.

Old custom classic trucks have soul. Their dashboards aren't plastic, and they've survived both the best and worst of what the 20th century had to offer. For the owners of these trucks, it's often the same story. Through both good and bad times they persevered, until one day they could turn the key and roll up in a customized truck everyone with good taste would admire.Custom Classic Trucks

Looking great. What's your plan for the fuel tank and filler? I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do with my '56 panel and looking for ideas.

Re: My 1964 Suburban Project

GRIMSS- Not sure what to do with the tank yet. Thinking of just raising the floor, that seems to be what people do.
BOBJOB-Good luck finding parts. As far as the gate goes, I would check out fizzlefrys thread page 7&8 about using modern lift struts. Thats what I'll be doing on mine.

Rear wheel centerline below the wheel opening!

That's outrageous (and fantastic)!

Post Re: My 1964 Suburban Project

Amazing work in progress. I admire the workmanship, it looks first rate. Only one thing baffles me here, why keep the stock front suspension and crossmember? That's like keeping lead bolted under there. With your skills, obviously you could just roll another frame under there via-the-fab.

Re: My 1964 Suburban Project

you guys are getting me motivated to start on my 63 carryall ... i've been driving it for over 25 years and it's in need of a re-do... stopped it a few years ago ,, and found another project ... a 48 dodge town sedan 4 door choptop .. now i have 2 waiting for parts ..out of work for 2 years now .... and some health problems .... doctor finally says that i'm permanently disabled .. so at 56 ,, guess i'm retired and finally have time for my projects .... now all i need is for the checks to start coming in ..
sorry ,,, no pics of my carryall yet .... but you know what they look like .. BUT ,, a few of the dodge i have ..
now i don't know which one to do first ...
