Re: Sold American!
It's cold and I'm sure glad I have Pendleton and Woolrich blankets on the beds. The woodstove made in Vermont is keeping me warm with local fuel wood. Been staying close to home this week. Doing some woodwork, got all my USA Delta shop tools out. I look at my woodworking tool collection and it is almost all made in USA. The exceptions are specialty tools only made by that company. None from any of the recently most popular country of products being sold, or others. There have always been certain things from other countries known for being the best available. I'm into preserving and protecting USA labor and products, but I never believed no other country has the right to make and sell things same as we do.

Re: Sold American!
Snap-on.
I'm a weekender mechanic so don't "need" the best' But I work with guys who do and they have a lot of snap-on gear. I have to admit the tools feel nice, and seem to fit the nut better. If you think Snap-on is expensive to begin with, Try buying them from a Canadian dealer. But they are US made right ? Canadas biggest trading partner ? That's gotta be worth a premium. I was almost at the point of buying a several hundred dollar 3/8" drive socket set when I noticed the "Made in USA" stamp that was on all the older sockets that I had amired, Was nowhere to be seen on the new stuff. Hmmmmmmm |

Re: Sold American!
I have been shopping for acoustic/electric guitars.
I can buy a very nice sounding Ibanez (Japanese company) for $330.00 or a used USA made Martin for $1,500. I have been dragging my feet on this one.

Re: Sold American!
Just never buy one online , gotta get your hands on them, you can feel the edges and such and feel the playability. I send mine to my bro in NH, he lives by one of the best luthiers in the country.

Re: Sold American!
Yeah, somthin' about an American made guitar. And older Martin don't mean cheaper, right?
Aren't Cooper Tires made here? I've been running them, but right now the '72 has Goodyears and my Suburban has Kellys just because I got the best deals that way. Aren't all those US made? I ran Kellys a long time because they were. Those are the three brands I try to use on my regular use trucks. Unfortunately, Harleys haven't been all American for a long time. I went all over my '90 and making it my own. Not many parts not changed. But you look at it and you just see a low and fat stripped down black with chrome older FL (Hog). It is way more American now that I'm done with it.

Re: Sold American!
Cooper and Kelly/Springfield are made in the USA.
Other brands are made here and overseas both. Hoosier slicks are made here. Some of these may have changed since i last looked them up! Mike. |

Re: Sold American!
I had a 77 FLH for years. The AMF thing bothered me, but I still loved that old shovelhead. I traded it to my lawyer. He says it's in his will.

Re: Sold American!
AMF saved Harley and kept them from going under! They started the Assembly Line building and raised production. There isn't ANYTHING on This Planet that has the Sound Of a Shovelhead with Straight Pipes at least IMOP!
