Re: Need seat pictures please
I simply have not had the time to deal with getting him a seat cover yet. I'm not sure if the OP still intends to make seat covers since he closed his for sale thread over on the '67-'72 side.

Re: Need seat pictures please
Does anyone here have patterns they can make from there seat cover. I would like to get a set for a 65 , even templates made of cardboard or paper would work.

Re: Need seat pictures please
I pm'd him yesterday and he seems to want to do this.Im committed to send him a 66 deluxe cover for a pattern. Can I get more people 100% committed to going in with me on this? I understand that maybe you might not want to untill you see a price, but lets get a few peeps in line, and see what kind of price we can get. Im sure this can lead into covers for the diff years.

Re: Need seat pictures please
I need a 65 deluxe seat cover. It looks like 64 and 65 were the same.
I have a buddy that has a 4 5 or 6 deluxe red seat that I could get and send as a pattern if nobody has one. I also know where there are a few 60-63 deluxe covers in junk yards that are just good enough for patterns

Re: Need seat pictures please
It would be ideal if we could get the different years and each of us send the representative cover of the year needed. Like I said, im committing the 66 deluxe cover. Sig...make sure you have the 64,65 and that you can commit it.

Re: Need seat pictures please
I have been in contact with "rideblue" on his cover. We are working it out. As stated before this will be a long process. Just trying to help you guys out. We will work on getting one pattern built, build one cover to see what it looks like and go from there.
Just to clarify on a comment earlier in the post. I closed the particular seat thread on the 67-72 side and started another one with updated pricing. I think I have all the pictures I need for now. Now we just need to move on one. Thanks for the help guys. |

Re: Need seat pictures please
Sounds good to me. If I had a original 65 seat cover I would have already sent it.

Re: Need seat pictures please
John Glenn , aka the astronaut , his dad does seats and I think has a or the pattern he has used in the past and the one he used on the highly detailed 65 he did a few years back.
Maybe we can get him to chime in and help out in some way

Quote:
Dad did the seat in the '65, and may still have the patterns he used. I have two '66 seats, one is too good to tear apart for patterns and the other has at least the original back rest; I need to take the rest of the newer cover off to see it's condition. The 64-65 deluxe seats are easy to reproduce, they're just sewn together. The '66 deluxe seats have heat seams that would need to be replicated to be 100% correct. I believe SMS is able to heat seam the white stripe to replicate the original covers, not aware of anyone else offering the service. This is not the correct fawn vinyl, but the cloth is NOS.

Re: Need seat pictures please
This sounds like it's old business and is not going to happen in the near future anytime soon, so chalk up to wishful thinking and I will turn my endeavors elsewhere. For apparently no reason I can think of closed a gold mine of seat-covers for much monies to be made in this business???...Vernski

Re: Need seat pictures please
Are the pictures you posted of the upholstery of the same material? It looks like 3 different patterns and colors to me. I am very interested in the last one if they are different. Can you give me some details or numbers on how to find it? Thanks!

Re: Need seat pictures please
First post and thought I would share the seat I just got back for my daughter's 63. She wanted something similar to a 70's era truck. Great work by Bell Auto Upholstery in Phoenix. Matching visors were previously custom ordered from stockinteriors.com. Truck is going to be painted original light green.

Re: Need seat pictures please
I have my materials from SMS now I need to find a pattern for a 65 custom comfort seat. Or some measurements from a original seat. Does any one have a pattern for rent?

Re: Need seat pictures please
I can get all the pics and measurements you need off the 65 cover I have if you can't find a donar. I have a skin, but when it comes off its already accounted for by Pimpston65. He may be willing to share.

Re: Need seat pictures please
Used a 6 way power bench from a 83 Caprice Classic Estate wagon. Sliced and diced and then widened 6". Was a lot of work but came out nice and is comfy. Used the seat belt hdw from the same car also.

Re: Need seat pictures please
Did "Truckseats" ever come through with a cover? It seems like he wanted pictures, but did not want to buy a seat ( another example https://www.ebay.com/itm/1960-1966-C...QAAOSw0zBfWTlP ) to start the process on his own. IF vendors came through with a correct quality cover at about half the price of an SMS cover, they would be a hit.
