Just found this build -- as a fellow greenhorn, I am awfully jealous of your learning curve and progress (and budget). I'm subscribed to this one for sure.
And regardless of how much bodywork it might need, I still think you stole that red truck. Just an awesome find.

Posting this here too because you have two threads pertaining the truck you just purchased.
Helps explain the paint. "As of right now we have ~8" of the fluffy stuff and probably another inch of ice." On the other thread, someone pointed out: "Belonged to spazzyfry123 -- check out this page." Looking at his other posts, appears he had just bought it this year. Could be wrong. Someone else restored it previously. |

I will eventually sell/part out the 350, 350 turbo and the frame from under the 67 with suspension. But that will be a few months down the road.

Im already finding a few things they kinda slacked on. I put it on a lift yesterday and took a look under it. Hopefully this weekend I can work on the suspesion and allignment a little bit. Half of the shims were falling out and the other half were just dangling there. The bushing need to be replaced on the control arms too. Found a few more rusted up spots like under the front fenders, doors and where the hindge is for the drivers door. Well see what else I find this weekend.

Great progress. I hope to have my frame done very soon. Trying to decide what to do with my rear end. Apparently I have a rear end out of a 88 or so truck 14 bolt.

to be quite honest with you I had no idea chevy made it. I am used to 10 or 12 from gm and 9 from ford. I was totally stumped when I looked at it and knew right away it was not what came with the truck.
I still have no idea whats in it.

Not much progess on the frame build. I am still trying to get things together so I can do the merge of the two trucks. I am going to look into stiffing the frame up a little bit. However.... I do have a little bit of good new and bad.... Bad news first... I have given up on the LS1 build. Its going to cost me way too much money to build it up when I would rather spend that money on other things. Good new..... I have already ordered a pretty kick a$$ 700R4 tranny. I went with the Level 2 witht he Corvette servo.
Here is the site and build list for the tranny Im having built. It should be here are Tuesday. This is a local guy for me that is super nice and I have heard and read nothing but good things about him. --={CLICK HERE}==-- MAD DOG TRANSMISSION Level 2 700R4/4L60 All Mad Dog Transmissions are completely rebuilt and come with a Master Overhaul Kit which includes: -all new lip seals -all new gaskets -all new Teflon rings -new filter -all new steels -all new bushings -all new Raybestos clutch discs -all new sprags This Level 2 transmission comes with an Mad Dog Reprogramming update kit, Mad Dog shift kit, and Raybestos 9 clutches (replaces factory 5 clutches in the 3-4 drum) the 9 clutch pack also has specialized heat treated steels that withstand much more heat, all Raybestos high temp high energy clutches through out the rest of the unit, all new steels, band, bushings, and rings. A 500 boost valve, 10 vane pump rotor. The reason we run a 10 vane pump rotor and not a 13 vane pump rotor is because the more vanes it has in it weakens the rotor. We also use 4140 hardened pump rings, TEFLON pump bushing, a 29 element sprag, Sonnax wide-open throttle valve, over-sized hardened sun gear shell (which is three times thicker than factory) hardened input shaft and drum, 4 pinion planetary gear (which has also been cold-freezed to withstand big horsepower and torque), high-temp Pro-series, Kevlar band and a Billet servo ( the Billet servo has 30% more holding power, to give you that full throttle shift without burning up the band. For full competition use only). However, I highly recommend running a Corvette servo if your going to drive the vehicle every day. We discard the oem factory, plastic accumulators and run Sonnax aluminum accumulators to ensure a quality shift every time. “NECK BRACE NOT INCLUDED !!!” If YOU’VE got THE HORSEPOWER we have the transmission. LEVEL 2! The 700R4 is a true, 4-speed overdrive transmission and does not require a computer. Our units offer great performance and better gas mileage. If you are looking for an overdrive transmission for your old school vehicle, we can do the complete installation or send you our conversion kit. I wish you were around Newnan or Peachtree somewhere closer to Columbus, GA. I could probably get over to help a lot. But that being said I do travel up to Acworth sometimes to visit my sister. Maybe when you plan the transfer I can make it up there one weekend to help.

A little more progress last night...but not much. I mounted my Boyd Welding gas tank. This thing is beautiful and was pretty easy to install. I used 6 - 1 1/2" grade 8 bolts....two on each side to go through the factory holes that were already in the frame and drilled 1 extra on each side just for my security. Drilling through the frame was the hardest part.... pretty simple.
