Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
Progress looks great Josh! I just now found your thread. Have you found out if any of the headers will work or not? I bought a set of Thorley's for my 72 swap and still have them. I've also got a set of new model truck headers. I wish I could make them work in my 86.
I've been slacking on the truck side of things lately. I bought another LSX block 427 and I've been saving my pennies towards heads and crap to finish it up. I'm hoping to get it in my 86 around summer. Send me your address, I've got a truck intake you can have. Which TB are you using? Does it have the vacume port on it, or is the port on your intake? I've also got a truck style engine cover you can have if you'll use it. LMK if there's anything else you need for the engine and I'll do my best to hook you up. |

I remember hearing that the Throley's made for the 67-72's were having some problems fitting toward the firewall, particularly on the drivers side, up against that big pinch seam on the firewall. This was a while back though, so things could have changed.

[QUOTE=glock35ipsc;3765849]If we could still leave rep points, I would give you a bunch!
Thats what I was thinking. I had some dealings with Matchstick a while back and he is nothing but a straight up great guy to deal with. Couldnt ask for a nicer person.

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
Absolutely. Matchstick, here is the pic of the throttle body I am using. There is a vacuum line that goes from the intake to the passenger valve cover. No vacuum lines on the T.B.

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
Well, no actual progress this weekend as planned. 19 degrees, 8 inches of snow, and no heat in the garage put a stop to that. But, I ordered my oil press. sending unit adapter, Lokar shift linkage, fuel injection hose and clamps, and a few loose odds and ends. Also, shipped my harness and ECM to wait4meperformance. I guess anything is better than nothing. Cant wait till it looks like this again.

I will answer that in the form of a picture. And say black does not bother me a bit.

Nice!
Do you paint professionally, or on the side?

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
I did professionally. Then I got out for a bit after that particular shop shut down. I sold cars for a couple years. In Dec got back in a regular body shop but got let go last week for being too slow for them. So I guess you could call me a pro, but I am not doing it right now.
Josh, sorry to hi jack. Back to you and your beautiful truck!

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
It's Ok Gerald, you can make it up to me by putting a slick Black paint job on my truck. I'd love to get rid of the scratches and poor prep work that is showing through the paint on there currently.

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
If I had somewhere to paint right now I would say to do what Dennis keeps threatening. Ship the truck out to do the body & paint. There is a couple others I have done, in my "inspirations" album on my profile page.
Dang, I need my own shop!

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
I wish there was someone around here I could trust to paint my truck. Seems like around here, it's just a junky old truck. Seems I feel slightly different than most. I want someone who understands how I feel about it to paint it for me so I know it'll be taken care of.

Bring your truck to TN if you'd like some paint work. My best friend owns a body shop and IMO does some of the best work out there. If I get a chance I'll post some pics of our stuff. What gauges are you going to use? The first truck we did we bought adapters for the speedo and all that crap. This round I've bought a electronic cluster from a 91 Blazer. I've been told this is the easier route to go. Last edited by matchstick; 02-01-2010 at 07:41 AM. |

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
Scratch the PS question, I just read yours has a remote reservoir. I'll throw one in with the intake.
On the MAF what style does the van have? I assume it's a 5 wire like the truck. I'd almost bet a truck MAF would work. I've cut the 2 extra wires on a truck style for the IAT and used a car MAF before so with that being said you can make almost anything work. |

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
Thanks so much Matchstick. I really appreciate all your help. The van MAF is a 5 wire but is shaped funny for the air box they use. i will have to find a truck MAF as well, and would like to find a complete stock air box and intake tube from a truck as well. Just need some time to get out to a salvage yard around here and see whats out there. I am planning on using a electric speedo from a 91 Blazer, oe 'Burb. Just need to locate one. I cant thank you enough for all your help. People like you are what makes these forums a great place to hang out and meet people with the same interests, and help others whenever we can. Thanks again so much. You're the man.
