Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Nitis I already emailed them they don't make a crossmember that would fit an Ls motor. I have a set of la adapter plates but they are just flat. So still need to add mounts so 50$ not that good of a deal. That is why asked about the ebay add I posted earlier.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Hey guys I picked up a powder coated frame from a board member yesterday. looks good. BUT a question I had was the picture of the front lower spring hanger and radiator support. it has a bracket welded to the front lower side of the spring hanger. My first thought was someone just welded a piece of metal to it. but the bracket looks to be special not just a piece of metal slapped on and welded. It does not look factory.
Does anyone have any ideas???

My frame has the same piece welded on. it helps support the spring and hanger do to the steering box on the left side.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
ok thanks my 68 does not have it. I did notice that the shackle bolt hole was a little oval. I may have to weld it up or enlarge the bolt size.
also, Has anyone worked on the LS oil pump from the front? I want to button up the motor but not sure if there is something I should do before I closer up!

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Worked on the (new to me) frame. Found a crack in the front horn section. I am going to weld it up and also weld up front shackle bolt hole as it is a little oval. I will post a few pictures.
Now I have to order a few things. Brake lines, e brake cables etc.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Well got the frame in the shop and started to look over it. Found a little crack on the front frame horn, so I ground the powder coat back a little and welded it up.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
I looked over the steering box area and noticed that maybe I have a loose rivet at the fron crossmember but since I am going to add the front sway bar I think I am going to drill the rivets out and bolt the sway bar mounts and front crossmember in with grade 8 bolts. I also ordered a steering box support braket from ORD.
Happy Easter everyone.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Yes it is just sitting in the frame rail. The square body pedestals will need the be cut down as the 91 burb frame is a little taller then the k20 frame I have. First thing I am going to do is get the front crossmember secured with the 91 burb sway bar mounts and get the front axle installed before I work on the engine mounts I want to make sure the frame is square.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Got a little work done on the truck. Was able to remove the front crossmember that was loose and install the square body sway bar brackets and was able to reinstall the cross member without any modification. Not sure how but It worked. I drilled and installed extra bolt in the sway bar bracket to the frame and to the cross member. So looking at it it probably is about 3 times stronger now. When the steering box support comes in it will really be tough.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
This is for Nitis
This is the square body engine crossmember in relation to the stock 70 4x4 cross member.

Installed the power steering gear box. It is very close to the radiator/body mount.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
No just set the original in so you can see where the original and the square body members are in relation to where the motor mounts go.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
I noticed a few post back you ordered a steering box brace from ORD. I have one for my truck and it does not fit. the kit only works with one type for front cross member. I thought I had the right one. but thought wrong. my front cross member is angled forward and it does not fit. hard to tell if your is strait up or angled like mine. I will be cutting the steering box support apart and make it fit.

Dw.
I have to be honest I am not sure of mine will work either. It says it should be delivered 4/8 so I will see. Here is another picture. Can you tell if this is the same as yours?
