Re: Silver Dollar
After the epoxy primmer was dry I started on adding filler (Rage exstream) and then sanding to making her straight.

Re: Silver Dollar
Once all the Sanding was done (so I thought) I shot a couple coats of Polyester Primer to fill in any small imperfections
About this time I had takin the Hood out in the drive to check it out in the sun. had it leaning against the house checking it out, when my daughter flew off her bike. I ran over to pick her up. I looked back just it time to watch the hood fall (in slow motion) flat on its face on the concrete. I was so Pissed, both of my kids and my wife picked up the hood sat it back down on the saw horses never said a word and went in to the house. I didnt work on it for three days after that. it was perfect too. so I had to redo it. Its still not as good as it was, but I dont think most people will notice it. Looks great, what size of compressor and setup are you using to do this?

Beautiful truck. You do great work. It's really cool that your wifes in there helping out. Both of you will be grinning bigger than snot when you get that first ride I bet. I'm glad I'm not the only one that has those little screw ups like your paint thinner splat. Makes me feel normal I have company. LOL. Nice truck.

Re: Silver Dollar
What did you do for power steering hoses? That's something I have to figure out with the LS1 swap in my '72 (someday).

Re: Silver Dollar
Power steering hose are for a 73-up c10. I change the fitting in the rear of the pump. took it from a old truck in the junk yard when no one was looking, (they charged me a $3 cover charge so I guess were even.) The old fitting threads right in and excepts the older hoses. That made installation easy and cheap two of my favorite things.

Re: Silver Dollar
Awesome progress! Glad to see your past the paint portion of your build. As far as painting in your garage goes, I have painted several cars on a dirt floor barn. Yep, you will get some dust in your paint, nothing that won't buff out pretty easy. I only painted one in an actual paint booth, man was that nice! The last one I did I used my buddies portable home made booth, it worked pretty good too, just had trouble with my feet sticking to the plastic on the floor. check it out. LINK HERE

Re: Silver Dollar
Question... while looking through your pictures, I noticed your front brake lines exit on the rear side of your front crossmember... I just disassembled my chassis and I know mine exiting on the front... what gives? I think it makes more sense to exit in the rear... just curious why mine may be different.
Thanks... great build... can't wait to see the final product!!! |
