When I got it home it leaked almost every fluid, leaked engine oil, brake fluid, power steering fluid and coolant. Got all the leaks repaired, mostly just loose fasteners. Far as I can tell it’s mostly original, odometer rolled over just after I bought it, no serious rust issues just surface rust on lower body panels.
The box is fairly beaten and shows obvious years of work on the farm, the floor needs to be replaced, and I’d like to get box repainted back to original ochre.

Plan to keep it as original as practically possible. So far I’ve had front end work done and just had single exhaust removed and dual with headers installed. This was a good upgrade that provided noticeable power gain and bit better fuel economy. Also removed the seat to clean cab as it was really friggin dirty! Installed jute floor insulation while seat was out to reduce some road and engine noise.

Planning to remove motor and rebuild / refresh the fall and winter, possibly add a RV cam while I’m at it thinking it’ll go well with the headers and dual exhaust. Future plan to strip and do a repaint to original white / ochre / white as it rolled out of the factory.

I’ve had a chance to drive it in a lot of conditions, sometimes my daily driver to work. A blast in deep snow, total beast! Just love driving it though, there not many 67-72 where I live so it’s a rarity here for sure.

If anyone has must do, non negotiable upgrades that have proven worth time and resources I’d love to hear them!

Cheers!

Roy
Awesome stuff Roy! I like your plans for it and hope to see it come together. As for upgrades, I put a hydraulic clutch (not sure if you’ve got an auto or not) and hydroboost in my K20 and those are some excellent mods that if recommend to anyone. The hydroboost stops the the truck very well with other wise factory parts.

Re: Random pictures you took of your K

Got the trans in last weekend. Spent last week tying up loose ends. Drove it back to southern CO to go rock crawling in my buddy's crawler. Very similar cage to the ORD K30 convertible, but this one is on ORD leafs but does have a SM465 and an ORD 203/205 doubler. It works really good.

This guy was a stud.

Here's a Truck Night in America winning truck on trail. No quit in that guy.

We were at the Independence trail system outside of Penrose Colorado.

It's no joke either. Even the "easy" trail is harder than anything else I've gone down.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have all the trucks back that we previously owned!! I know I’d have to buy a larger piece of land to put them on 😂

Re: Random pictures you took of your K

Yep. And same here on needing more land. I never have had enough land for my trucks. I used to have them all over the place at friends', family's and my folks' places.

One I had a while in the '90s. Rustfree California truck. The previous owner said he did the primer because the paint was shot. I got it off with lacquer thinner, re-painted it, Tangiers Orange. 350/4spd, a/c, tach, No-Spin. Mirrors sucked. I put DG4 stainless on

Lol I’m pretty sure I remember dad buying a 465/205 from Jeff when I was a kid. That was probably mid ‘90s after dad sold his ‘71. That’s a true story. Fast foreword close to 20 years and my brother was buying stuff from him for his 72 K20, which my dad now owns… it all goes full circle eventually I wish I could get dads ‘71 K10 back.

Jeff the current trucks are looking bad ass! I’ve got plane tickets bought for the middle of August and I’m likely going to be staying at my moms house in Kearneysville. I’ll make it a point to come by!

I’ve heard about the trails around penrose. A couple guys I work with go up there in modded CJ’s. Looks like a lot of fun.

It's rowdy. Honestly, I don't think anything on less than a 38" tire can get out of that canyon without a winch. It's not for folks that like sheet metal. I could see a CJ getting banged up if the wrong line choice is made.

Well hell Eric, don’t be a stranger! You already know how much I love that truck we’d love to see some more of it-and you others!
I think Mr. Rogers’ truck would fit in nice around here!

Re: Random pictures you took of your K

Eric, that is a special truck for so many reasons. I am glad you go ahold of it to bring it back to life the way it truly deserved.

Ryan, I’m pretty sure the orange truck would die if it didn’t have a trailer behind it. Every picture I see of it, has it working it’s ass off! Good to see these things doing what they were intended to do.

Orange71shorty, looking great! That’s an awesome angle.
