Re: Long to short conversion
i have not had the strips in there since i built it. hopefully i will have the truck painted in the next 2-3 months and then have final pics but i did think that that was very important. i did not however have any special cuts made. the strips i have are not very tall and the metal strips are about the same height.----------
alright you got me thinking about it so i went and found my receipts. the base metal(i was wrong) is 5/8 x 5/8 x 0.63 square tube. and the sheet metal is 12 gauge. now i forgot i had two outside pieces(where the wheel tubs are) wider than the rest. i had 5 pcs cut at 7 3/4 inches wide and the other two at 11 3/8 inches wide. to get back to your original question i did not make any special cuts the strips are so close to the 12 gauge steel hieght i left it. |

Re: Long to short conversion
been negotiating with the wife to get more time out in the garage. over sunday and monday i fabbed up a basic seat brace bracket( i do not know what seats i will use) but this way after the truck is painted i can work on the seat and mount outside of truck. I have a list of things to be done before paint and i am slowly crossing them off.

Re: Long to short conversion
I feel like i sure talk alot and dont produce the results sometimes. But mostly it is money holding me back. With that being said i had such a crappy day today but my truck is at the body/paint shop. Dropped it today and paid for almost half. Truck will be done in October. Might have some progress pics but chances are i will just have them when the truck is done. Thought i was going to paint it black for about two years and changed the color in the last two months. I want to suprise some of you but oh well it is going to be silver. Also, none of this is for sure but in about the last month started thinking about changing my motor setup pretty drastically. That i will wait to let the cat out of the bag(especially since it is not for sure).

Re: Long to short conversion
Heard alot about (paint jail) but the shop working on my truck is moving with it. I know i should have taken my camera but i was not thinking. I went there today and it looks great. the cab and front of the truck are already done. I saw the bed being wet sanded and they said it would get sprayed later today. Truck should be home in two weeks.

Re: Long to short conversion
was planning on picking up the truck today. but the weather here in california is weird. on monday sep 27th it set records, was 113 degrees. then it has rained thurs, friday, sat, sunny on sunday and rainy monday and today. so truck is delayed and i can understand. so hopefully weather permitting i will have my truck back within the week.

Re: Long to short conversion
That's great news, can't wait to see your paint, you won't have any trouble being motivated after that!!
