Re: New member with a 1960
The Gas cap is an old Horn button from the 40's!
I just received a walnut Grant Steering wheel, Flaming river column, the adapter for the column shift to a 4L80E Transmission, the cowhides are ordered for the interior, 1 piece power window conversion, all the glass, etc are in transit. Hopefully we will have functional brakes this week and its off to the body shop, I am just having the door bottoms, rockers and cab corners replaced, then to try and match the patina! |

Nice truck - Great work.
The drivers side inner fender well won't hit those brake lines?

Re: New member with a 1960
I don't know if you guys use Performance Online but those guys are really giving me a time with parts that don't fit, missing parts, no install instructions etc.
I ordered my fuel tank from them, it was 8 inches to narrow, sent it back and they sent me a second wrong tank, I finally got a tank built elsewhere, I ordered the power steering conv kit, brackets will not fit, no instructions, the rag joint is missing, my paperwork says the gearbox is a 3/4-30 spline so I order a UV joint to fit it and it turns out its a 13/16-36 spline, I am 11 deep in phone calls in two weeks and I always hear.......UMMMM someone in another dept will have to call you back..... Sorry for the vent! Flaming ricer column is installed, the brakes are working, all my wiring has arrived even for the LS conversion,....... HATS OFF to Speartech, the harness is beautiful! |

Re: New member with a 1960
That's because most of these parts sales people don't know that the '60-'62 frames are different than the '63-'72 frames.

Re: New member with a 1960
Take a look at this thread :
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=684806 Your adapter plate is made to use some of the existing holes similar to the CPP one.

Re: New member with a 1960
We are making a little progress! I received the Truck wiring harness from E-Z Wiring, the kit looks to be a quality kit, no complaints. I received my LS Swap radiator from Radiator Entropy, it is a fine looking piece and it is fully American made, I have purchased a couple radiators from Champion cooling in which I ended up replacing one for my big block Olds due to lack of cooling, I can say the radiator from Entropy weighs about double of what the Champion does. It came with pass side inlet/outlet, the steam port and a billet cap, the fit and finish is fantastic, the welds are light years ahead of the Champion product!
I earlier mentioned my Flaming River steering column, We did notice that the Neutral SS was dead center of the firewall opening and the unit was supposed to be direct fit, I called Flaming River and I must say STAND UP customer service, I sent it back they moved the NSS to exactly where I wanted it to be no questions asked and no charge, they had it done and back to me in 5 days! I like the Flaming River better that any of the IDIDIT columns I have used in the past due to a couple things 1) it uses the factory mounting brackets with holes that lined up perfectly where as the IDIDIT columns I have used in the past used a universal type strap just to hold it in place 2) The FR column uses a DD slip shaft that slides in a DD opening in the column, you slide it to the correct length and lock it down, the IDIDIT units I have used require you to cut your old shaft, grind flat spots and use a DD coupling which is frightening to me, I always went a step ahead and drilled them for solid pins for additional safety, for me personally I feel much safer with the FR set up! Hopefully this week its off to the body shop for door bottoms and rockers! The heads are done for the LS, the Block in in the line bore machine, new Crank, Rods & Pistons are being installed! Hopefully we will have the Supercharged 6.0 in one piece soon for a test fit, the torque convertor arrived and the 4L80E is at the tranny shop currently, engine accy's at t he powder coat shop, the seat is being finished up with the leather pictured below, Hopefully we can start installing dynomat, power windows, glass, wiring, carpet in the next few weeks! Re: New member with a 1960
I can't wait to see how these turn out. How do they deal with the notch in the window opening where the vent window post used to go?
