Re: Made my hotel reservations for the Southeast C10 Nationals

Unexpected find on the shoulder of interstate 40 just outside of Knoxville looks like it tumbled around some it’s got road rash and broken plastics but the control panel is perfect and it’s got gas and oil in it so nothing mechanically broke. Haven’t started it yet A 3100 champion generator. Stopped for lunch at Southern craft BBQ in Bristol Virginia side .

That's my 71 K1500. I had never been to this show and I was very impressed. Over 1300 trucks at the show, Saturday was neat, wall to wall trucks. Decent vendor participation. Got to meet and talk to a handful of forum members, that was fun. Even the weather (except the humidity) cooperated. The rain stayed away until my drive home to Indiana, drove in rain 3/4 way home, some fairly heavy. Only complaints, stayed at Ramada and room was way overpriced. Waited in line for an hour Friday to get in and register, this was after 9:00 AM, this process should have started by 8:00 AM and there would have been no wait. There was an hour plus line to have truck judged. I almost didn't have it judged, I figured who gets excited about a stock height K1500. Guess I was wrong, judges liked it, it won the 4X4 category. I had never saw that many Chevy/GMC trucks in one place before and it was impressive. It was a fun trip except for the drive home. I'll post some pictures after I look thru them and see what I got.

Congratulations on the win it’s a real nice truck . I was online around 10:30 Friday and was in in about 20 minutes . Next year I will pre register . Did you stay at the Ramada on Cumberland street ? That’s where I was I thought $69 a night was reasonable .

We made a late decision to attend show and I could only find 2 places to stay in Lebanon. I used booking.com to reserve room and we had to pay $160. Your rate of $69 is way more reasonable, Ramada was ok but our room wasn’t worth $160. Except for the wait to get in, I thought the fair grounds was a very good place for a car or truck show. Nice combination of roads and grassy areas.

The grounds are great . I’ll be back next year got a lot of comments about being from NY and people seamed taken back that I drove the truck down . I made my reservations early June guess they caught on the rooms would be in demand met a couple of people that had to book about 20 miles away

The show was not scheduled to open until 11 am. So he let trucks in early. I had planned my trip to be there when they opened at 11 as Bryan had said what time he was opening the gates. was quite surprised when I arrived only to be late to enter the show.

As we were sitting in line (nice to have A/C ) I said to my wife this isnt good were here early and the line is growing out to the road . Said the state police are going to have an issue with the line spilling over into the public road ,sure enough 10 minutes later the line was moving well before 11.

Next year if the shindig is again the next weekend I'll plan to hit both.

The info and website I used to plan my trip said the show started at 10:00AM Friday. Regardless, I assumed that the starting time of 10:00AM was for a paying spectator who wants to look at trucks. I also assumed that participants would be allowed in early to have as many trucks in place when the show starts. I guess I shouldn’t assume things. Anyway, it was a fun show and plan on returning next year.
