A few more pics from week 34. I ran all the wiring to the gas tank, tranny, cat, and taillights. Then I set the cab back on.

week 35 - I spent three long days doing bodywork on the cab. I ground the 1/2" of dirt and rust off of the floor and sprayed undercoating on it. I then sanded the rest of the cab and did a lot of body filler on the back and shot some primer on the whole thing. I still need to touchup my bodywork before I can paint it, but I am 90% there.

thanks guys. I am happy with my fab skills, but very disapointed with my bodywork skills. The truck could never pass as a show truck, but I keep reminding myself that it was never intended to be a show truck when I started. (I would just like it to be that nice) It will be really trick for a daily driver, but nothing more. I hate body work, so my skills will never improve and I can't afford to pay for a professional paint job. I hope to have the bed done next week so I can finally clean and organize my garage. Hard to work with so much dirt and clutter.

Well, I was doing a little math this morning.... I am still averaging about 10 per week on this project. I have about 350 hours in it so far and my grand total is now up to $3500. Not bad. I think I am still on track to have it done in 2 years for less than $5000.

Not everyone can afford to write check after check to have someone else build there car for them. You are a true inspiration, proving that the 'Average Joe' can do it himself and come out with very good results. Seeing a show car that someone wrote a check for it nice, but to see a vehicle that you built yourself opens the eyes to those who thought that they could never do it themselves. You should be very proud. And I bet you will draw a lot of attention at cruise nights, where the Average Joe shares their ideas and hangs with their own kind.

thanks guys, that means a lot to me. I used to belong to a Suzuki Samurai club. I really miss getting together with guys with similar interests and discussing what mods we did or what worked or didn't work. We would occationally show up at the local car shows with our beater 'pieces of cr@p' and steel the show. I am always pushing to better my skills and you guys give me something to aspire to. I love the feeling of doing stuff myself.... especially if it can pass as 'professional'..... it gives me an extra charge.

week 36 - I tried to get the body work done on the bed, but there was a lot more work there than I thought. I did get a lot done and I managed to get the bottom undercoated. I also spent a lot of time hooking up misc. stuff like the steering column, brake booster, tranny cable, throttle pedal, windshield wiper motor, cruse control and computer.

week 37 - I finally got some paint on the outside of the bed. Now I need to flip it over and complete the inside. Wow, beveling the edges where I welded the stakeside back on was a lot of work. Did not turn out perfect, but good enough for me.

I think all blazers and jimmy's are the same
2 lines from eng 2lines to rad going to a block with filter under rad
lines bolted to filter block
I removed the lines to the rad
in the filter block there is a check ball and spring in 1 line hole or it's under the filter that I removed and drilled the hole bigger
taped the line holes to rad and plug
have about 300 kms on truck and working good no leaks so far
if you want I can get some pic of the filter block for you

thanks. My wife thinks the almond color is boring, but she understands why I chose it. The Blazer had a tan and brown interior, so I think I will stay with those colors for the interior of this truck so that I can use the Blazer seats, visors, etc. I definitely want to pin stripe the outside, just don't know what colors yet. Red and blue sounds good. I was also considering putting my wifes business logo on the doors, which is dark purple and black, so maybe purple pinstriping. Don't have to figure that out for awhile though.

more from week 37 - I spent another two days doing all of the body work on the inside of the bed and got it primered. I also cleaned the years of grime off of the inner fender wells and primed them and undercoated the undersides. I can't decide if I should paint the fender wells the almond color or repaint them black. I am kinda leaning toward the almond color.

thanks, I was just going to use bed liner in it to hide all of the defects, but I did not want that much black. It still has a lot of defects, but good enough to fool the pics

week 38 - I got the bed and the inner fender wells painted. A lot of body work to do still, but it feels real good to have the two biggest parts behind me. I also got the radiator hoses and transmission lines hooked up to the radiator.

OK, a few more pics from week 38. I did a lot of small stuff to get the bed put on and to get the engine closer to being started up, like connecting hoses, electrical, fluids, battery, etc. I hope to be starting it up next week.... but I am a little scared.

I,m doing the same as you ,wish i could figure out how to post pictures . I put battery in mine but the only power i got was the buzzer under the dash and under dash lights , the instrument cluster had nothing and nothing to the starter when i turned the key , any ideas where to start to figure it out , got all the grounds properly connected , but some senors are still not connected !

I have not checked in for a while....I see your frustrated with the final details...very understandable....

hang in there, man!...I was just thinking of how far you have come and how great this project is....I tell my friends about how I am watching a build on line of this guy who actually took an S15 blazer frame and put a 47 chevy pick up truck on it.....tastefully!

Now thats amazing....a slipping tranny could be anything from an adjustment to something more, but it can be fixed!...the rest of the stuff will get worked out....if you can build this truck like you have, you can work through the fiddly stuff!
