Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
have managed to get a few things done since we got back. was supposed to do the end links on the wife's envoy today, but it's raining, so hoping to get some paint laid.
narrowed down a spare visor to fit scratched up some springs, shocks, crossmember, etc, brake lines will get plumbed to the m/c after the body is on body primered. got a couple small touch-ups on the door & roof to do |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
yeah, i got a soft spot for them. some people think there cheesy or whatever, but i dont care, i like 'em, 4x4's need them.
while i'm waiting for the paint on the camino to dry, my mog rims & tires showed up today, so i started playing around with my deora. out of my entire collection ('bout 170), this is only the second non-gm in the fleet (mis-guided sister-in-law gave me a ferd thunderbolt few yrs ago) comes with a slant 6 (), got a '97 LS, & a carbed BBC, undecided yet, but i like cubic inches! has a goofy camper shell, but i'm thinking a box style camper like a big expedition rig with a big roof rack & bumpers with bars around the cab & up to the roof rack. just thinking right now, the finished product rarely looks like what i originally plan.... them wheelwells definitely need to be opened up some |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thanks Ol Blue!
been dickin' around with my deora. i know it's a show truck & goes for the wow factor & doesn't have to be practicable, but i want to make it more of an everyday truck. the sideways mounted gauges & steering column are going, almost have this '65 chevelle dash mounted in there like a conventional vehicle. which means the front clamshell door is not going to work. i'm eliminating it & etched some doors in the sides, opened up the wheelwells & got rid of the show truck exhausts have a exo-skeleton cage design in my head that will be next |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
Right now it kinda reminds me of lunar vehicle...the chevelle dash should help get rid of that. Can't wait to see it progress.

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
yeah, it does resemble some kind of space mobile, & it's almost a 50 yr old design! once the exo skeleton, f&r winches, big bumpers, cab rack, roof rack & a bunch of other junk goes on, hopefully should resemble something more earthbound
mix-mash interior so far. '65 chevelle dash, '95 firebird steering wheel, & i lengthened a '96 explorer console. got to make some window cranks & door handles |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
Dash and console looks good in there. Takes some of the futuristic look away. Nice job

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
dont know Dale, started a exo-skeleton cage & it still looks like a moon mobile, maybe once the bumpers & stuff are on....
closed out the door & sanded the pebble grain off thinking white with black bumpers & cage & these stripe decals i made on PAINT. the black wood is for cabinets inside, & the granite decal is for the floor & counter tops axles weren't wide enough, cut off the tubes, drilled them out & made them longer with some 1/8 tubing, added valve stems to the rims too. started the cage, the f&r tubes will eventually tie into the bumpers, the middle bars & ladder will tie into some rocksliders so far... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
dont know 'Ol Blue, still spacey looking. maybe if i cut the side windows more square-ish....
with this great summer weather, this has slowed down to the back burner, have managed to squeeze some stuff in though. molded in the flip up windshield & front door, looked kinda plain so i added some 030 rod around the windows for trim. made a bed, couch, table, counter with cupboards & a flatscreen for inside. decided to go with the carbed chevy, the LS is too much eye-candy to waste on this, you will never see it once it's mounted, which meant moving the engine mounts & making a new tranny mount, & cutting off a bunch of he 2wd stuff as well. started a front bumper (will have a big guard of expanded steel), & just started the springs put a bunk bed in the topper yeah, i think if i square out the side windows some....prob. match the exo cage lines better. been making a couple cage mods |

Spacey or not it's looking cool. You're doing a lot of cool custom stuff to it.

yeah....sometimes though i think she does it just to keep me quiet, out of sight, out of mind, in my hole....
put window pillars in the cab, wont install the side windows, but will cut a piece for a permanent window behind the pillar front springs in, back ones almost ready to go in |

yeah, i think that the roundy side windows didn't flow.
got a little more done, rock sliders are finished. still got to plumb & wire the motor, put front shocks in, steering gear, u-bolts & plates, exhaust & brake lines. added a 'puter for GPS'ing out in the boonies |
