I thought they were shorties from a chevelle or similar. Thanks for the feed back. I ordered a set of chevelle shorties off of ebay, just waiting on them to arrive.

Re: Mike's 66 swb dropmember build

Got my drive shaft made. I had a late model shaft that I had the rear shaft shortened and the front shaft made longer. I just finished stripping out the cab and uncovering all the rust. They just slopped bondo and tar on the cowl. It looks like they put new rockers on at some point. This part is not going to be much fun.

I just read through this whole build for the first time. What a nice truck. And the chassis...

Re: Mike's 66 swb dropmember build

Sweet build! I used those same headers on my build, not chrome though. They fit great but we had to pie cut the collecter adapters that came with them to clear the ground when laying out. Not a big deal.

Are you not re-painting the firewall?
Or just "test fitting" the front sheet metal?

Re: Mike's 66 swb dropmember build

I've been test fitting all of my sheet metal. Got my front fenders trimmed and the hood hinges welded on. Put the bed back on to make sure the tires will clear. Now I need to take it back apart and start welding in some patch panels. This truck was restored some time in the past and they covered up a lot of the bad stuff. Not looking forward to doing the body work. It's real tempting to finish putting it together now and start driving it again but I know if I do it will never get painted.
