Re: AD Truck Project
I knew this was the place to go for good information. Trucks, rats, poop, it is all good.

Re: AD Truck Project
I thought this was a truck thread. I had no idea you were getting me involved in rat poop research. Man, I have to start watching who I hang with these days!!!

Re: AD Truck Project
I think ANY time you bust open one of these old trucks, you get rat poop research! Sometimes I wonder, HOW do they get THERE?!?

Re: AD Truck Project
I have personally observed rats going through cracks 1/4" wide. Their bones are very flexible. Having a 22# cat after you is good incentive too! One little rust hole or broken door seal will allow access.

Re: AD Truck Project
Dan makes my point exactly. There has not been many of this threads on AD truck that did not start with... I found x amount of x poop in my x truck.
Perf... I will teach you about pooh in trucks and you can teach me about not warm enough meatloaf.

Re: AD Truck Project
If your meatloaf isn't warm enough, you don't have enough ketchup on your sammich!

Re: AD Truck Project
See, with our great minds, we have solved your meatloaf problem! You can go back to that one place now.

Re: AD Truck Project
You have much to learn about the meatloaf young grasshopper. You see the flowers yet you smell not the fragrance of spring. In your lack of attention you have failed to understand the difference between the temperature of the meatloaf and the degree to which it has been "cooked". It is desirable to eat a cold meatloaf sammich provided that one has tuned himself in harmony with nature and fully cooked the meatloaf first. Much you have yet to learn about the meatload grasshopper. Return your focus to the rat poop.

Re: AD Truck Project
I'll take a meatloaf sammich over a 22# cat ANY day. I've got 10# weiner dogs and they don't mess with my 12# cats either!!

Re: AD Truck Project
It is snowing here, has been off and on for the last 3 days. Not sticking but temps are hovering around mid 30's during the day. When it gets a little warmer is rains. Good excuse to hide in the garage, I was going to the swap meet at Firebird tomorrow but is looking iffy.

Re: AD Truck Project
No real updates so far. I did get the serial and ran it today. It is a 52 short bed that came with a 228ci engine. It was built in St Louis.
I have half my spare parts, etc sold. We got the cab off the first frame, getting it ready to hopefully sell. We barely got it off before it was a turd floater today. Go figure, it has been nearly 80 and dry for a few weeks. As soon as I start to do something it is cold and rainy lol. We have someone interested in the 3 window cab now too. If all works out I will have my dad paid back for the 52 gmc, and then can start saving up for my mustang II crossmember, and 4link. I need to get some part of the 52 moved up to my house so I have something to work on. My game plan for now is to get the suspension under it, put on my cab corners, fix the hole in the floor, and maybe clean and paint the interior. Then get a motor and transmission in it. Get it running, and then work on the body later. If I could find one cheap, I would get another frame and work on it separate at my house, and then swap the body once the frame was ready. If anyone knows of some affordable, but good quality control arms and drop spindles, I am all ears.

Re: AD Truck Project
yeah 4x4 s-10 is good. Mine has a 3.42 I think, I have all the ratio codes, if you need it.
I used 1.5 aluminum spacers, makes it tuck a little still and looks really good. Is just enough to clear the beds.

Re: AD Truck Project
99.. what size are you using? I was thinking 15x10 but may go narrower if I can get some really cheap.

Re: AD Truck Project
Back to the rats, I've been catching them in the trap and shooting them. Last night we must have caught one in the live trap and it had all night to gnaw on the wire until it actually broke through and out. Amazing how strong them little chompers are. I'll patch it and catch him again!! I see a .22 in his future...
Keep up the good work on the truck. I know the feeling of no time, budget, or room! And we ran an S10 4x4 rear with 2" spacers. The wider tires are close to the be sides! We are running L78-15s. I think the rims were 8". Last edited by Dan Bowles; 04-25-2010 at 01:46 PM. |

Re: AD Truck Project
LOL... if I had found a live one in the truck, I would have had to stencil one on the side.
The frame that is in my garage is my original frame with an s10 clip. It should be leaving in the near future. Once I get my suspension for the complete gmc gathered up and put on where it will roll, I hope to get it moved the 80 or so miles up here to my house so I can tinker on it in the evenings. Then, if I go down to visit my folks I can work on dads 52 sedan. Seems like a good plan in my head anyways lol.

Have you looked at Scott Danforth's suspension kit? Not sure what your goal is.

Re: AD Truck Project
I am just going to do mustangII. We have it on my dads car and like how it went together. The end game is one day laying running boards.
