Re: 86 C10 LS 6.0 6L90E Swap

I hope you feel better after that rant.

I have to agree with you though. The internet forums are full of guys that tell you that you are building your truck wrong. Even outside the internet. I have a couple buddies, even one of my kids, that tell me I'm building mine wrong.

I feel tons better!! Lol. Thanks for listening :-)

I'll never tell somebody they're building something wrong, that they own. It belongs to them and they pay to do whatever they want to it. I can give my opinion and it's up to them to decide what they wanna do with that opinion. Build yours to the way you want it. When whomever inherits it, they can change whatever they want to when the time comes. Like you, I'm going to enjoy my truck the way I want it and put my design ideas into it. It'll be a representation of me and my personality when it's done..whether it's right or wrong according to popular criticism.

Well I mean I'm not telling you to buy another truck because the trans doesn't clear the floor. If it was my truck I'd bump the floor out too.

Lmao!! The floor is getting massaged, ceramic coated long tubes are getting installed and the exhaust will be hidden. Also, the computer is going inside the cab and not exposed inside the engine compartment just because the same guy makes computer brackets that mount on the fender. Just saying.

Re: 86 C10 LS 6.0 6L90E Swap

Shoot, I should have told you in my earlier post. I had to cut my trans hump and install a high hump tunnel for my trans to fit and the proper angle. Even after that I had to massage the rear of my floor a little as the drive shaft would hit when I stomped on it. DANG LEAF SPRINGS!!

No worries bro! I was half way expecting to have to move the floor anyway. Hoping I wasn't, but expecting to. Thought I might dodge that bullet..Lol. I got brand new leaf springs and coil over shocks on it right now. Hopefully they will help out for a while. But there is going to be lots of stomping the gas pedal. If everything goes good and it all turns out to be reliable, I'm going to start driving it back and forth to work. For me that's a 600mile trip one way, once a month. Air conditioning and cruise control are getting top priority. Lol.

Here is some more progress photos. Kind of hit a waiting on parts wall. Having to order a factory ctsv harness from Chevrolet and a computer. But still going forward.

Re: 86 C10 LS 6.0 6L90E Swap

Update. The fine folks at bumpus Harley in Jackson TN gave me a fair offer on my bike. I'm happy to report that due to the amount that they offered will now allow me to add a super charger to my list of parts that are going to be added to my swap.
Thank you. That is all. Lol. :-) :-)

Re: 86 C10 LS 6.0 6L90E Swap

It is unfortunate you had to let the bike go though. I traded mine for my truck. It was painful, but there will be more bikes.

Yessir. You are right about it being a painful decision. I rationalized it this way. I can only ride the Harley half the year. I can drive my truck all year. Gotta love climate controls :-) and I'd rather have someone else enjoy the bike rather than it just sit in my shop collecting dust.

Re: 86 C10 LS 6.0 6L90E Swap

My decision wasn't really difficult, I finally got my Jeep Rock Crawler done and the bike would have had a hard time towing the Jeep.

Re: 86 C10 LS 6.0 6L90E Swap

I believe the high hump was off a 1977 c10, look on ebay. I did have to modify (bend) it and massage it a little to fit but was not bad. Check out my build for it.

Re: 86 C10 LS 6.0 6L90E Swap

The original drive shaft from the donor truck was long enough to fit in the 86. Cut the back end off and changed it to the original 86 u joint size do I don't have to remember to get a special u joint when I break it. I see breaking lots of u joints in my future. Well. Hopefully only a few. And got some of the interior stuff changed over to black instead of red.

Hooker long tube fitment. Had to shave an ear off the side of the trans for good fitment..but they're in there and fit really good.

More progress. Hopefully she'll be done in the next two weeks. I got to ride in it last week. Still got some bugs to work out and tune it.. But. It's coming along. I love the fact that the exhaust is no longer hanging below the frame.

Re: 86 C10 LS 6.0 6L90E Swap

Here's where we are right now. Still have a few things to tweak and install. A.c.lines need to be finished up, cruise control, spray in bed liner, re skin and paint the tailgate.

Enjoy!!
