Thanks guys. We are enjoying it while the weather is nice . It has no heater or wiper , so it's a fare weather fun time. I did upgrade the headlights to a sealed beam style after our night out at the Museum. We stayed out too late and had a hard time seeing with the original single element bulb style. Although ...,I would like to restore the stock ones with an upgrade of some sorts.

Thumbs up Progress !

NEED MORE TRANNY & PARTS PICTURES ! .

I remember doing to 'mix 'N match on vintage trannies from the 1960's through the 1990's, it's fun and rewarding bench work .

In particular I'd like to see the gear teeth, slider and countershaft gears .

It's very nice you took it to mother in law =8-) .

Congratulations on the grand daughter ! .

Is it your first ? .

Sorry I didn't have anymore trans pics that show any internals. I took it by my Mother in Law to show her I had it fixed, She is the one who bought it for me . She says it's because a 30 model A that had been willed to me at one time had been sold by her ex husband. I say it was for my Wife and I having been married 40 years in June. I have 3 grandkids now. My Son has a boy that turned 3 today. My daughter has 2 girls

Re: Another Blue Chevy

I got the stock lights apart and tried some metal polish with a gray scotchbrite and a blue shop towel . Amazingly just hand rubbing turned out well . I also replaced the passenger side lens with a Chevrolet part I found on Ebay. I have some ideas for a light socket replacement and may try a LED version of an 1157 bulb, not sure.

Re: Another Blue Chevy

I bought a pair of these light sockets . I think they will work fine for a double contact bulb.

Re: Another Blue Chevy

My son and his family came to see my new granddaughter a few weeks ago. With all the new cases of covid in the state we did my grandsons birthday party via ZOOM today. Better safe than sorry , Thanksgiving will be a smaller get together this year.

Post Vintage Headlights

Oops ! I forgot to respond to this :

The proper thing to clean & polish old silvered reflectors if lamp black, art stores still sell it .

Last time I used cotton balls .

Then I tried having the old reflectors chromes and Lo ! they looked great and worked well enough to drive at night with the original 6 volt bulbs, they were 30 watt or so .

The 1157 bulb isn't going to illuminate enough to be safe but will at least make the lamps look good .

There is no shortage of original style headlight bulbs, no one wants them anymore .

'A' model F***s use the correct socket, easily available re pop .

Keep up the good works .

Re: Another Blue Chevy

I like your thinking on the older trucks. (fix whats broken, drive with the rest)
I am new to this age of truck but absolutely love my newest addition. The plan is to follow your lead and get my old girl going.

Thanks and by the way, when I looked behind a metal plate on the firewall, I discovered that mine was originally blue also. So we got that in common.

Your yellow wires look great.

Thanks.
I'm learning a lot more about these older trucks . I've been running the 67-72 trucks for almost 40 yrs.
I'll do upgrades from time to time as the $'s allow.
I really like the wires and would like to find a couple of hub caps for the drivers side but I didn't want to buy brand new if there are good usable ones out there somewhere.

You guys have such complete solid originals. I'm glad to see you leaving them be other than what they need to run and drive... same as always.

Thanks for the vote . We really like the truck. The previous owner did a nice job on a lot of things . I want to improve on only a few . We're just outside Canon City.

I got this info from AACA forum.

I helped bring back to life a 1935 Chevrolet truck that had last run in 1980. It was a farm truck owned by two old farmers. 34,000 act miles this is not perfect but is a wonderful reference truck . The one unusual think about the 1934-35 trucks, the only color interior offered was green it did not matter what the exterior color was the interior was green. [/quote ]

I'm surprised to read this cause mine is black and blue inside. I don't know if the earlier 30s models were this way or not.

Re: Another Blue Chevy

I have been trying to search for a couple of driver quality hubcaps to match the ones I have . All the reproduction ones I see are different . My caps have center area with texture around the Bowtie and the repop has a smooth transition to the emblem. I have the 6 lug wire wheel which takes a different cap than the artillery wheel and bigger than the 5 lug wire caps. I may have to just buy 5 repops to have a matched set.

I would appreciate that Tim. We WILL have swap meets again someday. I haven't been to one since we got the '35.

Re: Another Blue Chevy

The caps fit wire wheel only but look like the artillery wheel caps which don't have any way to retain it to the wheel.
