Re: 1972 Highlander (Forum Truck)
Found some time and warm enough weather to paint the bottom of the hood. Got that mounted as well as the Jack and spare tire carriage bolt with square body washer/nut. Next up is exhaust and front seats.

Re: 1972 Highlander (Forum Truck)
My buddy Randy charged the A/C with R12 and fixed a few issues the A/C system was having. I also had him install the exhaust. Ive been in a rush to get it done as Im moving out of state in 2 months. Im restoring the top as we speak with most of the parts coming from motorcityk5. Took it for its first drive earlier this week. Maybe put 50 miles on it so far. Drives arrow straight and everything works well so far. This is the first older vehicle Ive ever had with working A/C and I love it. Had a few coolant leaks. Could not get the upper radiator pipe to seal so temporarily has a 2wd hose on it until I decide to tackle that again.

Re: 1972 Highlander (Forum Truck)
Great work. So much fun with the top off. Top radiator hoses can be a pain...especially with towers. Enjoyed the follow.

Re: 1972 Highlander (Forum Truck)
Send me a PM with your number and I will text you photos of my old floor I took with dimensions of where everything goes. The plates are reproduced by someone on the forum if yours got thrown out and the seat braces are readily available reproduction.

Re: 1972 Highlander (Forum Truck)
I wanted to bring a bit of closure to this build thread. Life has been busy. I accepted a job transfer on the opposite side of the country. The Blazer had been done for a few months. I drove it a few hundred miles and entered it in one show. It one best pre 1980 and best Truck. I had to drag several vehicles, tools, parts on the move and I decided to consign the Blazer with a dealer in the Seattle area. They came highly recommended and I put a price on it that I could live with if it sold. I halfway expected them to act as storage for the Blazer while I got settled but, just a week after it hit their showroom floor it sold. A repeat customer was in town and bought it on the spot. It hurt quite a bit to let it go but, I do enjoy the build process more than anything I guess. Anyway, it was not long before a tracked down a 74' GMC Jimmy. I actually found it several months back while on a house hunting trip. My wife and I were driving around and I spotted it next to a tire shop. I had never seen a K5 with the woodgrain trim so I had to stop for a closer look. I think this one will be more of a challenge than the 72' due to parts availability but, I think it will be a stunner when done to stock. Here is a link to my new find. Will be a few months before I get going on it.

Re: 1972 Highlander (Forum Truck)
Some of the last pictures I took. House was actually empty and only had a few tools to install the new glass and hatch on the top and then install the top on the Blazer in preparation for selling it or shipping it as I was still undecided don what to do.

Re: 1972 Highlander (Forum Truck)
The hatch, glass, and seals were from motorcity K5z. I painted the top with boat paint as I figured that would hold up best to the elements.

Re: 1972 Highlander (Forum Truck)
Thank you. It is the original medium olive. I left the original paint on the dash and firewall since it was in pretty good shape and I like to preserve as much as possible. The wheels and hubcaps are original. You can find the P01 hubcaps for sale on the forum from time to time and the wheels arent too hard to find as they came on a variety of trucks from that era.

Re: 1972 Highlander (Forum Truck)
I was at Randys house last week just visiting and he told me where you consigned it. My old office was just down the street from them. Drove by every day and once in awhile you would see a cool 67-72 in there.
