I welded up the gas filler hole in the cab today while Dad shot the first coat of primer on the bed for my F150.

The passenger side door and the rear window left the cab today. Dad started working with a little filler at the kickpanels and the gas filler hole.





I vacuumed all of this insulation and acorns out of the cowl vents and from inside the back wall of the cab. Stupid mice.



I'll be busy replacing the cab corners and bed on my F150 for the next couple weekends, so it will be just a bit before I get back to work here.

The patch jobs look great. I like your work on the gas tank mounts. I've been wondering how I would deal with those and that gives them a real finished look.

Including the day spent moving the truck from the back of the shop to the main room, I believe that I've been over there 41 days (usually for about 4 hours or so) now. I'm not sure how many hours I have in the cab specifically.

After spending the past two months working on my F150, racing the Coug at Gateway (ran a new personal best of 12.097 @ 114.15 MPH), and cutting/splitting a winter's worth of firewood, we're finally back to work.

Today we pulled the windshield, removed the steering column and brake pedal, stripped the instrument cluster, heater box, wiring, etc out of the dash, did a little sanding, and spent a good hour just getting things organized.




It's great to be back on this project.

Your truck build is really looking amazing. You are doing excellent work on the rust repair and your "65 had a lot it seems. Keep up the great job and thanks for updating your build thread. It is great to see the progress that you are making on your truck and reading and knowing the family history that your truck has. Keep the updates coming.

Spent the morning touching up a few welds on the cab floor and the afternoon playing with possible paint colors for the interior. Currently leaning toward this shade (satin nickel), but we'll see.

I made up this handy little diagram the other day. The factory firewall really doesn't look all that busy until you start labeling all of the holes in it. I should be able to move a few holes to better hide the wiring harnesses, and some holes can be deleted altogether.

Pretty sure the small circle you have labled as Engine Harness between the large one and the one labled Heater Box is your windshield washer fluid access. Am pretty certain there is a 2 hole grommet that fits there for your push and pull washer fluid lines.

This truck just had a wiring harness clip/tab in that hole. Was the windshield washer an option? I don't recall this truck having it.

For your truck specifically I cannot say sir.
My 66 however has it.
The wiper fluid pump is integrated with the wiper motor, although the fluid resevour was mounted next to the radiator on the d-side of the engine compartment. Right next to the voltage regulator (of all smart things....)

I posted because I really liked your mapping all this out, I would have found it very useful about 8 months ago for my build.

I flipped through a bunch of the pictures I took before disassembly and did a little digging here on the forums to confirm that this truck definitely didn't have the windshield washer option. It didn't have the button on the windshield wiper knob, and there are no signs of a reservoir bracket, lines, nozzles, etc. I guess if you didn't have seatbelts, sat in front of a steel dash with a solid steering column, operating drum brakes with a single reservoir master cylinder, you didn't need to see where you were going.

I'm sure we'll eventually install a washer fluid setup, but I really doubt that it will be a factory setup.

What a cool build! This truck is going to be awesome when it's done.

Congrats on the personal best ET/mph. You're just a change in weather away from getting in the 11s. That is a fast car!

GREAT WORK on the firewall diagram. That needs to be in the FAQ section as a Sticky. So many guys (like me) went a little crazy filling firewall holes only to find out that we had to redrill a few when we starting wiring and plumbing the truck. Your diagram is a great reference tool. Thank You for doing that!
