It comes with a length of edging, you just have to cut and fit it.

Re: LMC Core support filler panel

If somebody starts making these out of bent flat steel or aluminum stock, just "hem" (fold over & flatten) the raw edge over about 3/8 - 1/2". Very typical (& easy & fast to do) sheet metal shop manuever. Stiffens the piece nicely to keep the usual buckling out of it, & stops figer cuts from an exposed raw metal edge. No need for a rubber tube edging add-on.

Back about 20 years ago when I had a siding business & a big shop sheet metal brake, & a rolling wheel shear, I think I bent about a thousand miles or more of painted aluminum trimwork for houses (8 ft at a time), & we ALWAYS hemmed any exposed raw metal edge.

Once you have a pattern made up for these & a source of painted metal, these ought to actually cost about $ 10 - 15 a set.

My shear & brake's gone, but for a hundred dollars a set, I think I'd go buy another brake & make these all day, every day.

Not offering to do this as a business, but I'm just saying: this ain't rocket science.

I agree. Having done sheet metal work for the air force I have a much higher standard of design, fit & finish than what I have seen out there so far. I would rather make my own and have it cost me more than to pay over $100 for something that has the fit & finish of what I have seen so far.

Have you seen one of these in person or are you just going by the pictures? What don't you like about it?

Re: LMC Core support filler panel

there actually is no need for the edging. They are not made with a sharp edge like thin sheetmetal on gutters. You can push your finger on it and slide it up and down . you won't be cut. You won't make these for 10 to 15.00 each
We have a full shop. We can't do it for that. hahaha.
I think they fit fine for what purpose they serve. If you were building a 100% One of a kind show truck you would probably not be using these. I think they look great.
I made a pair that we thinking about mfg. I f anyone is interested I will sell the pair. I made them out of polished aluminum. We opted out on mfg these.

I've seen a few on cars & trucks in person. The way it terminates at both ends, the hood latch area and the front & back just never have a finished feel to them.

I think I would be more inclined to make it come in under these items so the termination was out of sight wherever possible. It would keep the edges from getting snagged & bent over when working on them too.

These are copies of the we made. Were going to produce these with a few changes but decided not to.
There is a fella here in houston, another board member. He has first dibs on them. He pm'd me this morning. If he does not want them they are up for grabs

Re: LMC Core support filler panel

Lol figures thanks for all the effort on these what would be cool is if someone would incorporate the hood latch so these would be seamless!!!!! I would be up for having the first set if you are inclined to give it some thought

Re: LMC Core support filler panel

fyi...the panels that are sold by LMC, Ecklers, Undercover Innovations, etc...the passenger side panel won't direct bolt if you have factory air, or the A/C dryer mounted in the stock position.

Polished stainless would rock.

Northwest Auto Fabrication. Heh, he won't send a call tag for them either. No directions, although I learned that I had to cut the radiator support, in this thread, so that's done.

They sure don't look like the ones in his photo:

Kinda like those Classic Truck ones with the script on em. Anyone have pics of those installed? I must admit that whatever brand they might be.....they look a ton better when they have em as opposed to not.
