You can check out my build thread starting on the page below to get a good idea how a 31 gallon burb tank fits in a long bed frame. You can see how close the tank is to the shock mounts and such. As far as relocating the filler neck, I opted to place it behind the tail light(also in my build thread)

yes the bedside were cut up a good bit higher than factory, the inner fender wells in the bed were widened, and all of the spring perches and shock mounts wereremoved or relocated for the 4 link to be installed.

I was under the impression that 'townasty' wheels requires no other mods to tuck on our trucks? So you still have to narrow the rear 2" to use t/n rears?

LOW1TON- your truck was also a huge influence to get me to buy a square crew cab! I saw pigrigs, townasty, yours, and a few others, and my mind was made up!LOL

502ss- Sorry- it was your thread I saw the pics in....Sorry for the misplaced credit. Joe231 is also doing the same, but I saw the pics in the link above on 502's truck.

I am following your build, great project btw! I just have never seen a suburban tank less then 40 gal. I know LMC lists 31 or 32 suburban tanks but again I think most were larger I could be wrong though. Besides this he was talking about swapping his truck to a short bed, where you have a long bed. I know those will fit I have a 40 gal to go into my long bed dually too. I just didn't want him to drop the cash on a "burb tank" from a junk yard and end up with a 40 gal that would end up over the top of his rear end with a short bed.

there are 3 different 'burb tanks.

25 gallon: 28-3/4 x 28-1/8 x 10-3/4 Inch
31 gallon: 28-3/4 x 28-1/8 x 12-3/4 Inch
40 gallon: 35 x 28-3/4 x 13-1/8 Inch

the 25 and 31 will fit a stock or lowered short bed
the 40 will only fit a long bed or a lifted short bed (it will be over the axle on a lifted short bed)

I'm putting a 31 gallon tank in my CCSB

This is not correct the townasty wheels have a smaller offset than a typical 22.5" rim. Here are a couple pics I found of Townastys. You can see how close they mount up and the lack of offset compared to a regular 22.5" semi. These wheels have a custom cut design in them, but they are the townastys.

Oh and BTW, I dont think a lot of people run them on the inside and outside of the rear you can just run one on the outside to gain all the clearance you need.

Regular rim for the front with the face milled to help tuck:

I have TowNasty's with the stock steel wheel inside, it just does clear the fender lip. when I install my air bag's I will have to do somethen (probly wide'n fender) for the tire to tuck up in there do to the fender taper'n in as it goes up. I think I'm gonna wide'n my fender's enough to add another 22 inside. as mention'd befor it does look odd from the rear with one skinny and one wide tire.

No problem.
If you have O'Riellys auto close by, you can buy a new tank very reasonably. If not I'd check with whatever local parts stores you have unless you plan to hit the junkyards.

Re: slammed crewcabs

those are chases townastys (dragnasty) he had the mounting surface machined down to clear the fenders and I think he had to do that because of the rearend in that truck because mine will clear my fenders

how close are you'rs, would you be able to tuck 3 or 4 inch's of tire ? mine will clear the fender, but not by much. if I kept the steel inner's I may could machine the lip and gain what I need. but I think I wanna add the 22 inner's and just wide'n the fender a little. I'm gonna look into SRW front hub's to gain the front clearence to turn while drop'd.

pig rig- Funny thing- I talked to that guy a few times about that very truck. (his name is Lee too, Ironically) Then he became kinda hard to reach- so I bought elsewhere. He works offshore, as do I, so that may have contributed. I was really considering it.

I dont know exactly but once when it was loaded down the tires were just braking the plane of the fender lip and I could stick my hand in there so I'd say 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch does that help you
