Re: heres the progress of the build of my 57 chevy
Great progress on the truck so far, I tend to repair alot of things also, but only for myself usually, customers hardly want to pay me for fixing their crap, but that leaves me with lots of really good parts around.

Re: heres the progress of the build of my 57 chevy
I can relate to that! yeah I sometimes wonder if it makes more sense to just work on other peoples so I can afford new all the time, but then its not really playing is it!! I like taking something thats in need of help, and bringing them back to life.

Re: heres the progress of the build of my 57 chevy
today John and I went out and worked on the truck. I knew I wanted to angle the tailgate and flush mount it to the box, but knew it was important to get the angle just right. fifteen degrees was the magic number inorder to match the cab post angles and to make the box match with the back of the fenders. we decided to add some at the bottom of the box to make the proportions right.

still deciding on how I want to finish off the bottom of the tailgate area. I still want to use a stock rear bumper.

Re: heres the progress of the build of my 57 chevy
I would like to replace the top tube on the gate and give it somewhat of a small flare effect across the top. I plan on smoothing the gate and still using the lettering. I have small bear claw latchs that I plan to use to lock the gate in place and delete the chains.

Re: heres the progress of the build of my 57 chevy
That looks so good. It is so obvious once you see it. I know there is another thread with a custom bed with a sloped back but without the tailgate. I'm following.

Re: heres the progress of the build of my 57 chevy
You're the man! I have been wanting to take a Sawzall to my bedsides to do that exact same mod, but didn't have the heuvos. Now that I see what it looks like, I like it a LOT. It's stock looking, but it gives it a real sporty look.
Keep them pictures coming!! Alex |

Re: heres the progress of the build of my 57 chevy
John and I continued work on the tail end today. we had some troubles getting things to line up, but in the end we won! lol It was tough getting things to look quite right, but thats the beauty of steel you can always cut and add a piece!

Re: heres the progress of the build of my 57 chevy
Here you can see what we ended up with! you can see the bottom corners that we colored in. was a toss up what to do here, but tomorrow we are going to round out the bottoms. will look some what like a 48 vintage chevy I guess. still planning on adding the stock bumper. having a hard time deciding what to do with the tailgate. wanted to add the center from an earlier truck with the chevrolet in writing, but cant afford to buy a gate just to chop out the center. so thinking of just skinning it and having it painted on when its being sprayed! any thoughts????
