Re: My 1962 C10 Build Thread "Grandpa's Truck "

Got the Captain Fab kit all installed today, works great, I used the 62 kit with no clutch and a 98 Chevy 1500 dual diaphram booster, the master is a 74-81 Chevy C10 power disk brakes, pushrod is the stock one cut down and a coupler was made to join the two, I used 2 set screws and ground a dimple to assure it won't move, the whole thing is captive anyway and will not move even if the allens fall out, I used some rope caulk behind the bracket to insure a good seal, please excuse the green wire for the tach...it sneeked behind the pedal somehow rather than pull the whole assy apart I will just disconnect it from the dist and re run it, everything will be taken apart and firewall painted when I get the time and cash, here are some pics for you

Looks like a nice radiator. Where did you buy it? Are those threaded bungs on the front of both tanks?

Got it on ebay from a guy selling all kinds of radiators, put a bid in...did not expect to get it but I am happy, I really wanted an internal cooler for the trans but hell at this price I will add an extruded log type cooler, those are mounting bunks on the front...don't think I will use them..worried about vibrations cracking the tanks after time, unless I can isolate them somehow

Re: My 1962 C10 Build Thread "Grandpa's Truck "

cheapEbay radiator is going back...when it came time to mount it I discovered that the radiator was out of square 1/2 inch and not flat..its like the whole thing was stood on a cornr and pushed down at the same time twisted about 1/2 inch, hope that I can get another one because the size is great and the hoses line up ok on my Tuned Port

Thanks man for the kind words, I have decided to stop on the 62 and sell it, financial reasons and possible move makes this decision, after 48 years in the family its going to find a new home as soon as I can get her back together enough to drive away

Sorry to hear that decision as well, but times are tough and many people have had to make similar decisions. Just sad to lose something that's been in the family that long. Good luck.

Re: My 1962 C10 Build Thread "Grandpa's Truck "

Thanks for the words, I have no attachment to material objects like I once did, and while this truck has been in my family a long time, it just does not fit in the situation I am facing, I spent alot of cash on this thing and its given me something to do..but I really should have been doing other things with my time, if things change I will keep the project but now I am just trying to get it road worthy and back running, been sitting here for 2 years now, will let you all know what happens

Re: My 1962 C10 Build Thread "Grandpa's Truck "

Got the radiator finally ..got it on ebay from rodpartsdealer, great seller who made sure I got a good radiatior no matter what, Fed X destroyed 2 of them before sending on UPS. I got the radiator and started on the shroud for the electric fan, made an awesome one out of fiberglass...just to realize it hits the water pump pulley when the fan is installed...it was good practice I guess...out to look for a job today and then back to making a new shorter shroud

Going to have to get the Chevy in a daily driver condition fast...I am going to be moving soon and need to use it as a driver again, the 2001 Dodge Dakota is a terrible and I mean terrible truck...

That looks good

Can you give us a little run down on how you made this fiberglass shroud? Mainly how did you get the glass to release from the lower piece of plywood.
