Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks
My dad bought new 72dark green with white top custom deluxe 10 lwb fleetside with a 307/ auto ps pb no ac. Traded it for a 73 or 74 black/ red interior cheyenne 10 with a 454 in 76 or 77. It ran like hell but drank gas like it was going out of style. My uncle bought new a black/ black 72 cheyenne 10 lwb fleet 400/400 ps pb ac tilt wheel bedside tool box. My brother now owns it and restored it. He added a tach during resto that i found for $50 (!) the same brother had a 72 c10 swb step black with white top 250 6 cyl/ 3ott back in the late 80's. We swapped it for a mild 300 hp (or so) 350/ 2004r. With the stock 3.73 posi we would smoke monte ss and 5.0 irocs. It would give 5.0 mustangs and 5.7 irocs a run for their money.

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks
Im the youngest of three boys. My "middle" brother had a 76 chevy heavy half that a previous owner had swapped in a 454 punched to 468 out of a monte carlo into it. Someone added rectangular port heads to it as well. It had a big high rise offenhuser intake 750 holley and headers. It had 3.08 gears and would do at least 130mph. It was scary at that speed, we only did it once! The floor board rusted out and doors were sagging badly so he was looking for a newer truck but lucked into a wrecked 72 c10 light blue / white top lwb fleet. 307/ 3ott. we pulled the engine out of the 76 and sold it without N engine. We swapped the 468 into my dad's 80 gmc c30 welding truck. He was the fastest rig wleder around edna/ victoria/ port lavaca!

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks
The light blue 72 lwb only needed a front clip and we were able to find one complete i. A wrecking yard (this was late 80's!) he swapped a th350 into it even though my oldest brother tried to convince him to install an overdrive. He bought the truck in austin texas and it was stolen after he moved to dallas. They recovered it, all that was left was the cab and engine. They stripped everything without cutting any wires. He had added a tilt, tach and cheyenne super seat. All gone, even the bolts/ screws. I guess they didnt want anything with numbers to tie them to the crime. Luckily he had full coverage insurance!

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks
To be honest, I'm a pickup man. I appreciate and like a lot of trucks. Saying that, I come from a Chevy/GM Family . Grandpa, Both my Gear-Head Uncles, My Dad, My Cousins, Closest Friends. I've liked the 67-72 Trucks my whole life. All mentioned above owned them or blazers/jimmy's. I own 2 myself. Once I get my 2wd and 4wd where they need to be, I'm getting a Blazer!

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks
I was in my early 20's when these trucks were new and I always liked the looks of them. I love the exterior look of the 68 and my favourite part of any of these truck is a full gauge dash with the black crinkle finish and chrome band on the surround.

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks
My dad has always had Chevy's and the first truck I really remember was a 68 pick-up he had. Ever since I can remember, he has traded every 3 years, sometimes more often, so he has had a lot of Chevy trucks in my lifetime, more than I can count. I wish I (or him) would have had the fore thought to keep at least one of those 67-72 trucks he had, I can remember at least 3 of them.

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks
I grew up in a Chevy family. I really don't care much for their new stuff, past about the mid-90's the quality went in the crapper, then the bailout, etc.
But I learned to drive in a 69 K-10, and it seemed like everybody in the family had a square body of some type throughout my childhood and teens. I have always loved these trucks styling. When I finally convinced the wife not to kill me for buying a project vehicle, a 67-72 was the logical choice for me.

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks
My truck is a hand me down and really is what got me in to Chevy trucks. I have owned GMs but I like the blue oval stuff, too. For a while I owned a '72 F-100 (at the same time as I had the '70 Chevy) and it was really interesting to compare them. I mean really- they weren't that different in design and execution. I like the look of the Chevy a lot better, I think the Chevy was a little more modern in its interior, particularly when it came to the A/C integration (Ford had a separate under-dash unit until '73).
OTOH (sacrilege forth-coming), I think things really changed after '72. I pretty much lean Ford for most things post after the mid-'70s.

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks
The factory installed A/C did hang below the dash, but it and the heater were one with the controls in the normal dash opening.

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks
You are born a chevy guy, a ford guy, or a Chrysler guy...
Anyone that says they are an independent is a liar ... I am a gm guy thru and thru. Sure I appreciate some Chrysler models and some ford models and my midlife crisis will be an Italian drop top from Ferrari in charcoal grey. Nobody chooses what brand they are loyal to. It is a birthright I grew up with Lincoln's mercury's ford trucks and Chrysler town and country wagons. Bentley and Mercedes were also the cars my dads friends drove. It's no different than if you are a boob guy, a butt guy or choose blonds over red heads. It's just part of your DNA structure.

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks
I always grew up riding in my dads chevelle (here's proof) or his numerous k5s. The red step side in the background is my grandpas he bought new which later became my first truck when I turned 16. It was an easy choice cause its all I ever knew. To this day I have only had Chevys in my name except one and it was a gmc.

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks
My dad was a pipeline/ "rig" welder. Back in the late 70's he bought a 73 Ford f350 with a 390/ spd. When the 390 wore out, he bought a 428 from PAW. It ran like a scladed dogbut had such high compression he had to run an edelbrock water injection. The truck rusted out so he biught an 80 f350 with a 400m, and auto trans thinking he could swap the 428 if he wasnt happy with the 400m. Wrong. No interchangeability with ford like chevy. That pretty much made up my mind on ford vs chevy. Not to say i wouldnt own other makes, its just easier with chevy. I have had a Ford escort and two tempos, and now a lincoln mks ecoboost as well as a dodge ramcharger. Throw in a 76 toyota celica gt(wish i had kept it) an 89 corolla, 91 acura integra, 97 chevy silverado c1500, 93 gmc k2500 06 cobalt ss, 09 hhr ss 02 silverado 2500hd crew cab 4x4 duramax with 215k, and now an 01 silverado 2500hd reg cab 2wd duramax. 281k mikes and still going strong. I still have a 72 c10swb step, 79 malibu, 91 olds custom cruiser wagon, 55 chevy 1st series 5 window and 55 2nd series big window.

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks
Wife drives a 2012 prius v I was driving it in the left the other day and some dill hole in an f350 powerstroke thought it was necessary to tailgate me even though i was driving 70 in a 55 zone and passing people. I got in the right lane to let him by as soon as i could and he just stayed next to me, goosing the throttle for several miles. My wife says she gets that a lot. I guess he has no way of knowing i have a big boy diesel truck too but dont use it as license to act like an idiot.

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks
I got hooked on mine when I saw it, then again I was anxious for something to drive and when I saw her next to the tree I envisioned me in the drivers seat. Since I've owned her I have two vehicles, the sable and the blazer and out of the three the 67 drives nicer than both, just only wish I had a lol radio and a quieter exhaust.

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks
The real question should be, "What made the others NOT pick Chevy Trucks"
I grew up in a very hard core family of Ford owners. I believe that many different vehicles have their strengths, and their weaknesses. I moved away from the other side, when the designs and quality went down hill and I am happy with what I now drive.
