Subscribing. Can't wait. Thoughts of doing this with my oldest son. He's 19, though.

Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
korbin again,i know its a long way ahead in the build process, but i want to lower it for sure i'm not alowed to let it lay frame, since it will be my dd, but i am alowed to bag it, as long as if a bag blows, it wont drag the frame. i'm think a step notch( little one) in the rear and a flip kit w/ bags. for the front, i don't really know, but i like how n2trucks' 77 cheyenne sits, so...i know i need drop spindles, but lowering arms? i want bags. but i dont know exactly how to go about it. more questions. what is the difference between a 2 or 3 or 4 link suspension and how does it work? ( may be a dumb question but hey, i gotta learn somehow!)

Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
If I was on my computer I could throw up a couple quick sketches to explain the whole suspension thing, but I'm not...so I'll do my best to explain it verbally, which is something I'm not good at... Suspension geometry is something I got really into a couple years ago though. Do you know how the control arms work on the front of your 2wd truck?

Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
korbin, again, i got the bed off a while back then i had multiple summer camps, when i got home, i got the rearend out, and once its rebuilt, the plan is to put it back in with a flip kit and c notch. now, i plan on cleaning the firewall a little bit soon. then i will probably go to work on the front suspension with a bushing rebuild kit. when it all goes back together i will go with drop spindles and drop springs.when i clean the firewall, what is my best bet, lacquer thinner, acetone??? will try to get pics soon

Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
daydreaming here, i'm set in stone that i want either american eagle 225's or boss 338's in chrome. when i lower it ( hopefully soon ) i'm gonna go with sport truck direct's 4/6 economy lowering kit. to add a little rake i may replace the 1.5 inch drop coils that come with that kit with 2.5 inch coils. i know that their deluxe drop "b" come with a towing bag kit for the rear and new leaf spring for a smoother ride. but is it worth it? because it's nearly $300 more expensive...

Hey guys, quick question, performance and price wise, what are the difference between braided and regular brake lines?

Check w/our board supporting vendors or try Summit Racing for your drop parts. As for the brake lines, the OE style rubber will last plenty long enough & get the job done w/o added expense; braided lines on these trucks are just 'bling'.

I did it by myself using 4 jackstands, a floor jack, and four 2x6 boards. basicly, I went around to each corner of the cab and jacked it up until I could get two of the boards all the way across the frame and sticking out the sides, then layed the other two front to back on each side of the cab, put my jack under that board and jacked it up until it made contact with the boards going across the frame, and supported them, where they intersected, with the jackstands. jacked up the back of the truck, took off the rear wheels (had to do this to clear the jack stands, slid a two wheel dolley under the rear end with the handle on the driveway facing towards the front, let the jack down, and pushed the frame out from underneath the cab, back to front. took a while but it worked. btw... think i met your dad at Toppin it all Off car show last year. I had the black pro street inside the building.

Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
Well we got a little more done this afternoon when I got home from work today. I have not been much help lately since I had surgery on my foot. Korbin and I got the entire front suspension apart and he has taken all of the rear suspension off with the help a friend and only asked me for advice on the rear.
Next we hope to get the cab off and get the rest of the frame stripped down for blasting... I will get him to take pictures in the daylight and we will post them up tomorrow.

Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
Yeah that green grass is the benifit of my yard being down hill from the neighbor. When he waters, his run off runs thru my back yard. There is a strip about 15 feet wide that is lush and near perfect. The rest of the back yard is dry, brown and barely surviving this heat.
Those dogs are the best. Daisy is the smart one and Beaux is the lazy one.

No sluffing off for me. School starts tomorrow so we will slow down a little. I worked a bit with him in my "boot" so that we got all the front suspension off.

Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
We leave for our last vacation of the summer tomorrow. We are taking the boat to Broken Bow for the long weekend. Maybe when we get back we will drag it to the driveway and get the body off.
Stay tuned!
