Re: 1968 C10 5.3 swap, the easy way.

Awesome! I got my lq4 couple of weeks ago...my t56 came in on Monday. I wanted to see if you like the dirty dingo mounts, and do they work with what is on the frame now, or what else do I need? Would you mind posting the link of the ones you got? I noticed that their site does not really show one for just 67-72 trucks.

Also, what intake did you use?

I'll answer for him. You need the 73-87 factory truck frame to crossmember mounts and then order the 73-87 dingo mounts. Just got both for my swap and it's very straight forward.

Re: 1968 C10 5.3 swap, the easy way.

We used the boyd welding carb tank and simply dropped in a LS1 fuel assembly I got off ebay for 50$ It works great and was simple to do. The tank also came with a fuel sender so my fuel gauge will work properly now. My dad made the truck a short bed. I bought new bedsides to help with that and they shorted the frame. Found a deal on TTII rims in 18x8 and will be installing those shortly. The rest of the truck should be finished and assembled next week some time. We used a single stage paint.

What did you do to get module to lock into place in the boyds tank? Was the LS1 module the right length? I just ordered a boyds tank and want to do the same thing but I cant find where I can buy the flange to mount to the tank. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Love your build by the way!

i did it! i got my old 350 out and my 5.3 in.. and i used the dirty dingo sliders like you said and it was so easy! did it in one afternoon with my wife! thanks for posting and showing us whats up on this swap. i deleted my emissions along with the vats.. sent to brendan @ http://www.lt1swap.com/ followed his instructions on the harness mods. building the fuse block featured on his site. also took the advise on the boyd welding tank, went with the efi model. and picked up some doug thorley swap headers! still got some work to do on it.. should be done soon, weather permitting. heres a pic and thanks for the inspiration!

How do the end of your headers sit in relation to the frame? And what motor mounts did you use?

Re: 1968 C10 5.3 swap, the easy way.

I am jealous... I am trying to talk the wife into letting me buy a 5.3L so I can do the swap. the MPG savings will pay for it in about a year anyways. Not the easiest thing to do let me tell ya'.
