Re: 1965 C-10 - Sleeping Beauty
Really enjoyed reading through your build. As I did, I reminisced about my days as a mechanic in the Air Force (Aerospace Ground Equipment, not trucks) and needed to use equipment and meters like you posted here. Also, I really like that this is a Father/Son project. My husband was beginning to do that with Zane, acting as sort of an adviser, before Zane passed away. Trust me, you are building more than a truck here!

Thanks T.J. and Zane's Mom!!
Haven't had much time lately, but the last two weekends, we have worked on an idea for the radio in his truck. We primered the engine parts that needed it this weekend. Still waiting on a couple more to show up before we can start assembling it, and get it in! |

Re: 1965 C-10 - Sleeping Beauty
Been working on a secret project for the last couple of weekends... I don't have the go ahead from my son to post it, so you all will have to wait on that for now, but I did get the engine paint started. Still have a few accessories to paint up, but here is a preview.
What do you all think of the new economy pushrod covers? I'm not too sure about them, I think I got taken! LOL |

Thanks 1963c-10! The guy at the parts store kept trying to talk us into the green and white. Really glad we went this way.

Re: 1965 C-10 - Sleeping Beauty
The block is Duplicolor High Temp Forest Green, and the sheet metal is Duplicolor High Temp Cast Iron Gray. It does look a little gold or tan in the pictures and in my garage, but in the sun it is definitely gray.

Lugnutz65, here are some pics of the bottom of the 292 pan that we were talking about in PM's. I couldn't get pictures of the bottom of the 230 to turn out, but will try to grab some this weekend if I remember.

Re: 1965 C-10 - Sleeping Beauty
I found a truck in a junk yard that has a drivers side lock. can it be re-tumbled to be used on my trucks passenger side door.

Re: 1965 C-10 - Sleeping Beauty
you can still lock your passenger door from the inside which im sure you knew but just making sure
my 2wd truck the driver side the lock froze a while back and my 4x4 the P.O had it re keyed and locks put on both sides i have pondered if i could take the pass door handle from the 4x4 and use it as a driver side door handle or if all else fails i think just the button with the actual lock in it could be changed. and your question i believe you're asking is if you could have that lock in the junkyard re keyed to match your key or a new key and yes a locksmith could re key it so you could have a key for it.

Re: 1965 C-10 - Sleeping Beauty
The 230 is going to a scrap yard, unless anyone on here wants to take it off of our hands. Full of metal filings. I do not have anywhere to keep it, so it will need to go soon.
Thanks for the heads up on the thermostat housing! We will pull it off and keep it. |

Re: 1965 C-10 - Sleeping Beauty
Does anyone know what the difference is in the 1963-64 and the 1965+ water pumps? The 65+ are cheaper, but I don't want to buy one for my sons truck (his engine is a 1963) and have it not work.

Re: 1965 C-10 - Sleeping Beauty
The '63 292 did not come with a waterpump, so I do not have it to compare to.
We have a brand new (green) waterpump for a 230/250 if anyone is interested. |
