yeah man, its a lil bit of relief but nowhere where i wish i was.....which would be finished haha.
gonna get the bolt extracted then start on the lil things like....
-install tq converter bolts
-install starter
-install harness
-clean/paint accessory bracket and install
-remove cooling fan
-measure/get DS cut/rebalanced........

speaking of which....when doing the driveshaft....any pix or idea of yoke placement when making the mark to shorten by? i have about a 3" drop now but will be adding 2" blocks once its running to help level with the front.....so i know that could/should be factored in

so i'm lookin at shift linkage kits.....what is the difference between the lokar and cpp kits? cpp is almost half as much and looks the same.....any input?

picked up a set of LSA cts-v manifolds for $50 from a local ls swapped c10 buddy yesterday. i must say the passenger side is a close fit. may have to shave a little on the top part of the frame but everything clears. the driver side has even more room.....closest thing the manifold gets to is the brake line that folds over the frame.

i can slide the motor back another 1/2" for more clearance with the engine stand but i may end up shaving about a 1/4" where the manifold is closest to the frame as well as the flange.

that or, sell these manifolds back to the owner and pick up some new camaro ss manifolds for $100 lol

my latest question is what linkage setup to go with if the trans is about 2" behind the factory location? will the lokar/cpp be long enough?

leaving the linkage question alone for now, i'm pushing myself into "make progress" mode now. lol

Had to drill out and tap one exhaust manifold hole.
Tightened all the bolts for the trans member/mount and stands/mounts/sliders and everything seems to be lined up pretty nice so far.
Bought new clips for the trans cooler fittings, cut and mini-flared the oem cooler lines.
Ordered a temp sensor hose adapter for my steam vent hose.
Ordered some ARP tq converter bolts since i never got mine.
Got rid of the LSA manifolds for brand new LS3 Camaro SS manifolds for $75 MUCH better fit...esp on the passenger side!!


I plan on removing the clutch fan saturday, and hopefully putting the harness and front clip back on. Pretty much saving the fuel system and exhaust for last since that's the most expensive stuff left with the swap. Oh yeah, and I need to flash my pcm still. lol

The standard length in the Lokar kit will be long enough, I can't say about the CPP kit because I don't own it.

When you go to remove the fan you won't notice it at first but there are holes in the pully just run a clothes hanger through it and wrap it around a bracket and it will hold it stationary so you can remove the fan assembly.

Thanks Brian, dont think i noticed any but should be doing that today.

I got the th400 yoke off of the DS earlier and cleaned it up some. Slid it onto the 4l80e shaft to notice the seal is too big and wont.....seal. lol

Bolted the coil packs back on (will paint the VCs later) and started on cleaning the accessory bracket by removing the ALT until I saw the PS pulley and it's need to remove that before you can get the bolts off -____- so hopefully I'll get that part done too.

Was going to plug the harness up until I noticed I never finished taping up over the wire loom....and guess what?...had no tape. lol so that's 3 fails so far

Parting out my other car and selling in stock form to fund the c10 build. Finished one and onto the other. lol Now im compiling a list of stuff i need for my fuel system. Might end up running a 99+ camaro tank and pump setup since i can score them pretty cheap around here.
Also need to buy a 4l80e yoke since mine was an HD so my th400 yoke is too small...then i can go about measuring my DS to be shortened.
**Anyone familiar with the 4l80es as far if only the HD or all had the threaded output shaft? Im seeing that there area few different choices when trying to select a yoke. -_-

minor update.

ordered some 2" drop blocks from way2lo2 and got them installed.


ordered the russell fittings needed for the fuel setup along with the wix vette filter.
ordered banjo style trans cooler -6an fittings
bought a water temp sensor adapter to use for my steam vent in the upper rad hose.
^^ now i need to find radiator hoses that go from the original c10 radiator size (bigger) to the LS water pump and outlet size (smaller)

I got mine at O'Reilly auto parts from their radiator hose catalog.

a couple more notes....

pulled the tailhousing off to measure and confirm what slip yoke i need. the shaft is roughly 5.5" long and not the o-ring style.

so i put it back on with a new oem o-ring and seal.


2" blocks, jeep tj springs and 400 or so pounds of junk in the back....frame is on the axles lol


ordered a new 89-90 jeep wrangler tank, 88 fullsize blazer sending unit, and walbor 450lph sending unit to get my fuel setup moving.


just need to buy some hardline and 2 fittings for both ends and a few feet of pushlock hose.

also just ordered the autometer 2268 adapter fitting for the oil psi hookup.

So i ordered the 25' roll of hardline for the fuel setup for $25 off ebay. same stuff you can buy at autozone but i saved a few dollhairs. PAC-625 is what i used. now i need to order the tube sleeves and tube nuts for the ends....once i find a 37* flare tool to use. Closing date is the 24th so im juggling with that too....wish i could have the truck running by then but oh well....

So the 88 blazer unit is the correct height for the wrangler tank or did you have to modify the height? Also where did you get your 450lph fuel pump? All the ones I see are expensive.

no modification needed. i didnt measure the 2 pieces to see how close they were but the filter sock on the bottom of the walbro sits right above the bottom of the tank. and i picked the pump up on ebay from an authorized dealer.

got the accessory bracket painted flat black, bolted it up along with the p/s pump and alternator. i used the fitting from a 72 c10 pump and put it on the 04 pump.....the original pressure line screws in and seems like it will work just fine. Also got the harness at the starter and crank sensor plugged up and ran all the way across and to the alternator and got the factory power junction mounted up. I will be taking my factory battery tray apart and converting it to driver side mounting.

also got in the hardline for the fuel system. cant wait to get started on that part but it will wait about a week since i am supposed to close on my new house tomorrow. yay me. so now i gotta worry about getting everything packed and moved over before the 1st....so i'll be working on all that every day after work....ughhh
