Re: 67-72 Chev Crewcab Build
Been another long day, spent most of the day getting the skin on and re-assembling the door, installing the door handle, so on and so forth. Now I've just have little touch ups here and there. The inside of the door is painted, seam sealed and rubber coated.
Well I had to try, after I failed I decide to call my friends down at the glass shop, $50.00 a piece...sold.

You made this look way too easy. I know it wasn't. Good luck with the sale of these things.

After seeing your Craig's List ad for Suburban parts it got me thinking about building one myself. I would definitely like to drop buy and check out what you are doing. Feel free to put me to work. Both me and a fellow 67-72 nut from work live in the same part of town you do and would like to drop by some time.

Re: 67-72 Chev Crewcab Build
Well been busy building a jig for production. I have started another cab, this cab will be built differently than the last. I have had an outside source make solid 6' long rockers, double the thickness and also had some other pieces vital to building crewcabs made double the thickness, will be showing pictures of those after I pick them up. I will say that having these rockers made intially was very expensive but something I consider to be crucial to producing a high quality crewcab.
I will probably be showing more pics than on the last build more specifically how the rocker will be integrated into the body. The B pillar will mount to the top of the rocker instead of going through it, in all cases this cab will be structurally stronger. As for today I will be dismantling a 69' deluxe for the donor cab and selling the rest of the parts on craigslist. Will have pictures later today until then have a great day.

Re: 67-72 Chev Crewcab Build
Have started new crewcab project that is already shaping up to be a really good build. There will be some new improvements on this cab such as the new 6' rocker panels that will have vertical reinforcement panels inside and the B pillars will mount on top of rocker panels instead of dividing them. All rocker panels and B pillars will be coated on the inside to prevent rust. The 6' long rocker built with thicker metal and combined with vertical panels within should make for a much stronger rocker panel and cab structure.
I have also had the upper rails made in 6' lengths so that there will be no splicing of roof channels. Rockers will be for sale - checkout the website later this week.

Re: 67-72 Chev Crewcab Build
Sweet deal about the rockers! you better believe that I will check that out! Can you tell me a little more about the center of the roof on your first cab on the roticerie in the back? Is it a hand fabbed piece?

How are you going to retain the small section of glass in the door that you had cut? Thanks |

Re: 67-72 Chev Crewcab Build
Ok, I'm needing the same glass for a pair of doors I have that were custom made before I got them and was wondering what holds the glass in there, if they just ride in the felt or if there is clips on the inside of the door itself?
