Re: Tail light fuel filler
Very little. I have made 3 or 4 complete setups now but haven't heard any feedback from anyone who has installed one yet. I'll try to build a few templates this winter when I get some free time but the complete setup takes a lot of time to build.

I would really love to get one of these setups. Keep me in mind please. I am holding off on sending the bed to the bodyshop for one of these.

Re: Tail light fuel filler
Thanks guys. FYI, this is the sheetmetal piece that I have made for a few people. I make them when I get some spare time, which is not very often. Turning down the stainless filler, modifying the lens backing plate, and mounting it on the hinge takes a lot of time that I don't have lately, so this is the best that I have been able to do. The second pic shows the whole setup, but even if I had the time to make them, they still take a lot of detailed work to install.

Re: Tail light fuel filler
Here are a few pics showing what has to be cut to install one. Maybe this will help someone that wants to try to make their own. The last pic shows a 1/4" bolt that I installed in an existing hole. The spring (that holds the light closed) attaches to this bolt.

Re: Tail light fuel filler
A few more. Don't forget though, you have to use LED tail lights, and I had to enlarge the light opening at the bottom to allow room for the lense to clear the bedside when opened, so I had to use trim around the opening to hide this. (see last pic) Also, be very careful when routing your tail light wires. I used a rubber grommet in the lower left corner or the lense backing plate. You can see the notch that I cut for the wires in the first and last pic. Here's a tip that I learned the hard way- When you get your hinge where you want it, spot weld the hinge nuts, (pic 2) and hinge screws that go through the lense backing plate. There is no way to reach them later.

Re: Tail light fuel filler
For the 2 rubber bumpers, I used '67-'72 upper tailgate bumpers.

Re: Tail light fuel filler
I don't have any to sell at the moment, but I have sold them for $50. I don't want this to turn into a for sale thread though, so I will post in the parts board when I get some time to make some. Thanks.

Re: Tail light fuel filler
I need to find someone to make me a CAD drawing or something that has all of the measurements so that those that want to can make their own.

Re: Tail light fuel filler
Nice work! Have you ever tried Google Sketchup? It is free and fairly easy to use once you get familiar with it. It allows you to do 2d or 3d drawings, and its easy to display dimensions. Just a thought.

I would love to have this setup too. Do you have a parts list? I have Solidworks at work and could post up a drawing here if I had dimensions. Super job Wynne!

Re: Tail light fuel filler
This looks great. I like it more than the side marker light approach that requires mods in the box. Thanks for posting.
