Re: 66 step pro street build
Took my power glide to the shop today.Going with a 4330 input shaft with turbo splines,10 clutch steel hub and 1.73 gears. Will run a 10" converter, all should work good.!! Piston's should be in a couple of days, swap them out to get the compression down to 10.88,then I can put the motor and trans in the frame for the last time.!!!

Re: 66 step pro street build
Great build. Im fixing to do a bbc swap also. Funny how some people end up w/fire wall clearance and some don't w/the bbc swaps. Im glad that pics are being posted of notched firewalls in case I have the same issue. As mentioned earlier, great build and looks like a ton of fun.

Re: 66 step pro street build
Thanks 63 C10,I have to run the tall valve covers on my motor, and I moved it back for better weight control.Plan to run it on the drag strip a few times a year, and it helps to move the motor back.!! Street and strip .

Re: 66 step pro street build
Taken a little bite out of the beast.Swapping the piston's out to make her pump gas friendly.Out with 42 cc domes and in with the 15c domes.Should end up at 10.88 -1, if my math is good.!!Motor looks great after 100 or so passes at the drag strip when it was in the race car, still see the cross hatch in the cylinder walls, rod bearings look like new.!!Transmission is at K & M here in Mobile Al. ,with Maurice Ferrouillat working his magic on it.!! Got the hooker headers in and a 3800 stall 10 converter also.Should be ready next week to bolt the drive train in and start putting some sheet metal back on this project.!!!

Re: 66 step pro street build
Built and bolted in the new cross member.Welded tabs inside the frame and drilled out for 7/16 bolt, for easy install and removal.!! Just need to repaint the frame and paint the new cross member, will be good to go.!! On to the next problem.!!
Can't tell from the pic, but I have about an 1" of clearance above the collector and were the exhaust pipe will run.

However I know I have to check those rears before I bleed my system, otherwise I will have to bleed it again if I must rebuild/replace anything in there. One thing at a time eh? Your build is looking awesome though, and I love that transmission x-member !! Nicely done
