Re: It ain't over till it's over.
To look at all the junk I have here, literally a 10x10 room filled, plus all the big stuff I hide at the side of my shop... It just blows me away you and your gang can get such good results, and your budget rocks! I'd probably fall over at the thought of what you could do with a $5,000 grant (or whatever you'd call it). You'd probably have a jet engine funny truck.
I have noticed though, from keeping my eye on CL closer, there are deals to be had on stuff, and freebies if you watch and have feelers out. Loved the paint station too. Seen some darn nice jobs come out of a backyard or from under a shade tree. Just goes to figure, we have a $40,000 paint booth and sometimes get so much trash it makes you mad, but I can paint something real fast in the back parking lot and it'll come out slicker than a penguin that just jumped up on a iceberg.

Re: It ain't over till it's over.
Thanks bud, as I said before, it realy means a lot. I don't know about the jet engine. The landlord may have a problem with that. Wait a minute... Idk... there's a semi sitting out in the lot. Do I smell an engine swap coming on? Lmao.

We ordered the new steering wheel today. Nephew picked it out and paid for it himself. I think it looks pretty cool.

Re: It ain't over till it's over.
I forgot I had made this. It's kind of short. Got this idea from Keith Seymore , a board member. Lowers your rear end approximately three inches. You just drill the rivets out, and move both hangers, front and rear, up to the last bolt hole. Keith said he did this 20+ years ago, and hasn't had an issue yet. Anyways, here it is. Short, but sweet. Oh yeah, the guy doing the drilling is the little s**t that robbed the truck of the parts, so I figured he could do some of the hard work. Payback's a b***h.

Re: It ain't over till it's over.
We got the steering wheel on this afternoon. Had to make a tool so we could get the last steel o-ring clamp on. Looks pretty good, I think.

Re: It ain't over till it's over.
Thanks. We plan on working on the interior some more this weekend. Hopefully we can get a lot of it buttoned up. Maybe go on a road trip. See how she actually runs. Just around a long block is as far as we've taken her so far since we've gotten her back running. Trying to get pics as we do this. How is your build coming along, along with all the other ventures you've got in the fire?

I think my project is actually going to go on hold for a little while I think the truck is going to go into the garage for a nap over the winter and maybe the spring and summer lol. I have a little bit in store for it. LOL

Re: It ain't over till it's over.
Got the bed reprimed this weekend. Worked on the engine bay some more. Didn't get to take the truck out. Found we have an alternator problem. Luckily, we have another one from my brother's old truck. It's just dirty lol. Hopefully we'll get the door panels put on before the weekend is over.

door panels look awesome got any more details of how they mount and I'm guessing the center piece is screwed on from the back

Re: It ain't over till it's over.
Thanks guys! As you can see, the frame was made out of 2x4's with the edges dado'd, 3/8 in. plywood attached with screws. Foam from a old couch added with batting on top of that, then covered with vinyl from Hancock Fabrics. Originally was covered with some crap from Walmart, but was easily stained. To mount them to the truck, we used a metal yard stick attached across the top of the wood frame that slides down where your window sweeps are on the door, and two screws in the bottom. And you are correct, the handle is screwed in from the back. The handle itself was rescued from the dumpster. It's actually a top rail from a baby crib. Paint is Duplicolor Ground Coat Metalcast with skull stencils and Duplicolor Smoke Metalcast with red Metalcast sprayed over that with three coats of clear

Re: It ain't over till it's over.
Did a little work on the interior today. Think it's shaping up very nicely myself. Gotta touch up some things. Little nicks and whatnot. But that's to be done after everything is installed.

Re: It ain't over till it's over.
You know, I had much rather kept the bumper on. That roll pan bumper is actually a front bumper off of an '84 Chevy pick-up. I find they're a little wider and easier to tuck up close to the body. But thanks for the compliment.
