Good work, it turned out great! That picture of you and your buddy sorting the harness out gives me nightmares... I hate electrical work on trucks.

Re: Complete build change. Lifted 2wd
thank you, the harness was definitively a lot of work. thankfully my brother is pretty good with wiring so he did almost all of it. I held a soldering iron pretty well lmao.

Re: Complete build change. Lifted 2wd
Got my exhaust finished up last weekend as well as some shocks on the rear end. I didn't particularly like the idea of having a tip out the side but I didn't like the drone of having a turn down under the bed. Im happy with how it looks now that it is done though.
"still has the tailpipe dumped in this photo." Almost cant see the exhaust tip finally ran out the gas tank that I filled before we put the bed on it and now I cant drive it until we put a fuel fill in. Currently have no way to put gas in it unless we take the bed off lol. . plus side is that the truck has over 300 miles on it and is running like a top! Few little adjustments and a rattle scare on the transmission but turned out it is fine!

Re: Complete build change. Lifted 2wd
Figured I'd update this since I have been able to drive the truck for a while now. I have about 1300 miles on it and its still running really well. We use it every chance we get.
Hauling sticks of Rebar for a room addition we are working on. Hooked up to my brothers 21' toy hauler. didnt tow far but seemed to do well. Installed a new pioneer with blue tooth that I got for my birthday! Only thing I want to do in the immediate future is to spray the bed to match and get a set of lower control arms to lengthen slightly so I can get rid of the little bit of positive camber it has goin on.

Hi, that is a cool build. Do you have more details regarding the tires on your truck? Thinking of going in that direction myself.

Re: Complete build change. Lifted 2wd
About 2500 miles on her and still running like a champ. Used it to pick up lumber for my brothers addition. Love a truck that can handle whatever you need. Glad we stuck with the 3/4-1 ton suspension.

Re: Complete build change. Lifted 2wd
Sorry to hear of the issue. Hopefully it is just a bad gasket. Make sure you get new head bolts when you put it back together. These are torque to yield and only good for one use in case you didn't know.

Re: Complete build change. Lifted 2wd
If it is a head, I happen to have a pair of 862s I'm not using I'd sell cheap if you end up needing one.

Re: Complete build change. Lifted 2wd
very generous of you, thank you. The heads on it happen to be 862 so that would be perfect! I hope I dont need them but good to know that I can get my hands on some if the need arises.

Re: Complete build change. Lifted 2wd
Well gettin her tore down slowly but surly. Really taking my time to be sure everything stays in order.
Old gaskets were pretty beat up but no obvious part of failure. hard to tell because how bad they were though.

Re: Complete build change. Lifted 2wd
Havent updated this in a bit. Finally got the truck put back together and have been driving it pretty much every day for a month or so. I've put about 400 miles on it so far. I believe a sticky thermostat is what caused my gasket to fail in the first place since the temp was being a bit funny for the first couple miles of the new head gaskets. Swapped a new thermostat in and seems to be doing pretty well now.
I changed the lifter trays for new factory GM ones and upgraded to the MLS gaskets instead of the carbon ones. lots of cleaning to get all the carbon off the sealing surfaces but I got them to seal and used some new FelPro TTY bolts. about 3,300 miles on it since the swap from bags to a lift and I'm loving it!

Re: Complete build change. Lifted 2wd
man, been away from the site for a little while now, and when I make it back the truck is done and running!!
After doing the head gasket has it run well with no further problems?

Got to admit that when I saw the title of your thread I was like WTH? After going through it I really like your truck. Looks like a lot of fun. Good work.
