Places here normally change by up to 10 cents at a time. Our lowest here was $3.09 Monday and is now $3.27. Wazzup?
Same has happened here.

We went up to$3.45 from the $3 dollar range.

It went down a Dime yesterday.

Re: Gas Prices - Part 2

I don't follow oil pricing but I do follow stock market and it's been going up steadily lately and I figure oil is going up as well. Sure 'nuff it is. It's just large spikes at the pump are very rare around here.

It had been around $3.10-$3.19 for a couple of weeks, then spiked to $3.59

Re: Gas Prices - Part 2

Gas here is again at $3.59 just within the last few days for 87 octane corn squeezins. Wife said her Tahoe was low on gas with low fuel light on. Had some errands to run so told her I would fill it at the station while I was out and about. Used our $0.40 off points from Kroger so was actually $3.19 per. 28 gallons later at $91.00 the Tahoe no longer had a low fuel light on but my wallet sure did tho,

I remember the days gone by that $91.00 was a used car payment. As Bob Dylan used to say.....Oh, the times they are a changing.

Re: Gas Prices - Part 2

Supposedly going up because of shortages of product -- because of Saudi Arabia reducing their output.

Regular was $5.50 here yesterday. I haven't checked it today.

You can bet your sweet bippy they are going to adjust the oil output to command the most profits. They aren't rich enough, yet.

Despite what a LOT of folks think, Saudi Arabia has NEVER been a friend to the United States thru the years. If not for US and British oil exploration after WW2 most of those oil sheiks would STILL be riding camels and living in tents!

TOTALLY AGREE to the above statement also, so I refrained from what I wanted to post. Don't want to be the one to have my own thread closed and locked.

Hmm, prices took another boost overnight. Back to $3.79 for corn juice again. Couple more hikes like that and we'll be back up into the $4.00 plus range again.

In all the many times that I watched Rowan & Martin's Laugh In, I never heard anyone explain just what a "sweet bippy" was. Still have no idea!

Re: Gas Prices - Part 2

I usually keep enough in our vehicles to ride through a price surge like this but the surge outlasted me this time. Saudis just said their production cut will last another month or more. All of our trucks need gas now. Currently our lowest price is $3.35.

Congratulations to the citizens of Oregon who, after more than 70 years, now have the freedom to pump their own gas. Lol.

Seriously? Good, it's about time! I question the 70 years though. I was born & raised in Oregon and I remember pumping my own gas in the 1960s. I thought the ban was implemented sometime in the '70s to employ people who lost jobs due to the massive reductions in the timber industry.

Or maybe my memory is failing me (again).

They are trying to hold on though. They still can't have more self-serve pumps that they do full serve at the same station. They are trying to leave it open for those who don't want to do it.

New Jersey is the lone hold-out now.

Self-service has been an option here in Ohio since the mid 1970s.
The first time I was hit by a car was from running back and forth between pumps, working as an attendant. (1978) We had 6 full-service pumps and 3 self-service. That flipped about a year after I started (3 to 6) and never went completely to self-service, while I was there. (1981)

Something funny is going on here....someone didn't get the message? Some of the places out in the suburbs are selling for $3.04 yet in town it's $3.39

I worked part-time in a service station when I was 15. Washed the windshield (other windows if you asked), underhood check included oil and coolant, check & air up tires, just about anything the customer wanted. Oil change & lube job included vacuuming the interior. Full service and I got paid $1 per hour.

Wow
Your old

I worked at a Exxon when I was that age but I got paid just a little bit more

We changed oil, fixed tires and all that stuff.

At the pump we would ask what they wanted checked as far as the oil stuff goes.

Re: Gas Prices - Part 2

Funny how memories are triggered by a thread or post. This talk of full service stations and all reminds me of one time in the 50s on a trip somewhere we stopped at a gas station, full service of course, and a midget came out with a 3' stool and washed our windshield while we filled up. Cleaning our windshield wasn't a surprise. The midget was. That was the first midget I had ever seen. I said midget because that's what they were called back then. They have other names now days.
