Re: New project : 72 Suburban
Dakota Digital dash looks more like the factory dash, so I went with it and like the looks a lot better. Only issues I had with the Intellitronix dash was the sending units, they failed multiple times in a very short time

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
Made a few panels today for the headliner and finished up the insulation. Rear section is finished. When I get back into town next weekend I hope to have the headliner completed

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
Looking good! Is your rear AC unit working or did you retrofit it with a newer aftermarket one?

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
Yes, the rear ac is operational. In a few weeks when I go on vacation we are going to plumb up the AC , vacuum it down and charge it. Hopefully everything goes smoothly and I have AC this year

Looks great, really cleans up the interior. What did you use for dividing the sheets?

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
Man that looks clean, what did you use for insulation? Have you driven it yet and did you notice a difference in road noise?

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
Thank you. I used 1/2 inch foamboard insulation from Lowes. I scored the board up in the radius of the roof then put a strip of gorilla tape opposite of the score to keep it together. Havent driven it yet to see if it made a difference in road noise. The original insulation was styrofoam with a cardboard backing but above the drivers area there was some kind of vinyl gluded to the roof. I thought that was kind of odd, but I insulated that area with the foamboard as well

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
That's a lot of work to save a hatch but it's worth it! Looking good!

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
Made more progress on the hatch. Had to form a piece to repair the outside lip for the window seal on the top middle portion of the hatch

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
I have to say, that is some work on that hatch. Just wondering, you'll be able to do something to keep it from rotting out again over the years to come? Or it is just what happens to them and there is no way around them doing that?

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
So far the hatch is about 90% patched up and ground down. Hopefully by next weekend it will be all patched, ground down and ready for a test fit then epoxy primer and on to the mud work

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
Slowly making progress on the hatch. All of the patch work is finally complete and as of today about 90% of the grinding is done. Hopefully by next weekend it will be in epoxy primer and ready for mud. It has been quite a challenge but well worth it and it is coming out nicely so far

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
I like seeing how you methodically repaired the hatch piece by piece. I can learn from that. Thanks for putting up all the pictures.

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
Today I discovered that one of the hinges for the hatch needs the pin and the bushings replaced. Does anyone know if the door hinge pins are the same and if anyone sells a kit ? Im assuming that if the door pins will work they will have to be cut to length ? Any info on this would be great , thanks guys
