You should trade your truck for a Custom Camper Rick!

Re: CUSTOM CAMPERS lets see them!
Here is one that got away. While putting a loan together for the truck and a dog box, my job went away. It sold shortly later.
Anyway, original rust free, '71 Custom Camper/30, CST/Cheyenne, 400, 4-speed and just about everything but A/C. 85k on the odometer... Still have dreams about this truck and a M&H or NAPCO conversion kit.

Re: CUSTOM CAMPERS lets see them!
Nice looking Longhorn there. Kind of funny how the cap had to be extended.

Re: CUSTOM CAMPERS lets see them!
What exactly are you interested in seeing? I have 18 different pictures at 3072 x 2304, that adv. about 1.5MB each. For example the horn button is life size in the cluster shots. The provided picture is like 15% original. These are a bit much to post. I could cut down some more angles but it just dosen't give you same effect.

Re: CUSTOM CAMPERS lets see them!
Don't have any really good pictures of this one but its a '68 CST Custom Camper 20 Longhorn. Bonus period picture included with the 9' Alaskan it carried most of its life. BTW this had dual in bed saddle tanks. Probably should have bougt this one... oh well.

Re: CUSTOM CAMPERS lets see them!
Yep! the original factory saddle color, shes' a little faded with patina showing showing her age. In time I'll give her a new color but for now I need to replace the inner cab roof panel due extensive rust above the windshield.

Here is my '68. Brought it home in the fall of 2009. Drove it to Lowe's Sunday and bought gutter parts!

Re: CUSTOM CAMPERS lets see them!
Very period looking truck jim zag! Very common during the late 60's thru 70's to run large 12-16.5's just on rear only for a more stable camper ride and higher weight hauling capacity.

Re: CUSTOM CAMPERS lets see them!
Just picked this one up today.
Here's what I know so far: 68 GMC, odo shows 90,000 miles. runs very smooth and quiet. Got it from the orig owners daughter who inherited it 18 years ago. My favorite part is the original Big Block 396 (XH engine suffix code) that she says has never been out of the truck. The glovebox sticker is painted over, but there were remnants of the build sheet stuck behind the seat that showed the following options. Not a full list but all I can remember as I'm typing... turbo 400, power steering and brakes, stabilizer bar, roof lights, posi or 'pwr- lock RR' eaton axle, Z81 camper equip, Z84 custom sport truck. it does have a small amount of rust on the passenger rocker to floor junction, but otherwise pretty good for a CA truck. Not sure why they painted it green, but it doesn't look too horrible for now. To say I'm happy would be an understatement... |
