Re: Post pics of your 47-59 Chevy trucks!
THIS TRUCK SAT OUTSIDE A NEARBY RESIDENCE FOR NEARLY A YEAR "FOR SALE!" THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN IN NOVEMBER OF 2007 WHEN THE PRICE WAS SUPPOSEDLY $1500:
ABOUT A YEAR LATER (A FEW WEEKS AGO), I TOOK MY FRIEND BY TO LOOK AT IT AS A POSSIBLE PROJECT TRUCK. WE NOTICED THAT IT WAS GONE AND REPLACED BY A 1962 FORD FUTURA HAVING A 302 V8 SWAP SITTING IN IT'S PLACE. WE WERE APPROACHED BY THE FORD'S OWNER AND IN THE CONVERSATION I ASKED ABOUT THE GMC. HE SAID THEY PULLED IT TO THE BACK AND IT WAS SITTING ON A FLATBED. SO WE WENT AND LOOKED AT IT. HE SPOKE OF DROPPING THE PRICE TO $800, BUT WOULD CONSIDER TAKING $500 CASH. SO I OFFERED $300 AND $75 TO DRIVE IT AND DROP IT ON MY LAWN ABOUT 7 MILES AWAY. SOLD! HERE IT IS JUST HOURS AFTER BEING DROPPED OFF: THE BED WAS LOADED WITH MANY EXTRA PARTS WHICH WE RECENTLY CLEANED OUT TO REVEAL A VERY RUSTY/ROTTEN BED WHICH I FIXED MERELY BY TAKING WOOD FROM A NEARBY CONSTRUCTION DUMPSTER AND CUTTING IT TO FIT SIDE TO SIDE SINCE 7'3"+ LONG BOARDS WERE NOT AT ALL AVAILABLE THEN FOLLOWED UP WITH SOME REDWOOD STAIN I HAD LAYING AROUND. I ALSO ADDED A STAKE BOARD REAR AND PAINTED THAT INSIDE AND OUT WITH PRIMER TO SOMEWHAT CLOSELY MATCH THE BROWN TRUCK: THAT LETTERING ON THE DOOR WAS PHOTOSHOPPED! THE BED REDO FOR NOW: PLANNING TO MOVE IT ABOUT DIFFERENTLY ON THE FRONT LAWN ONCE MY "POD" GETS EMPTIED AND HAULED AWAY. HOPING TO DISPLAY A LARGE LIGHT UP AIR-FILLED 7' TALL SNOWMAN FIGURE ON THE ROOF AFTER I MOVE IT. I LIVE ON MAIN STREET IN A FARM-BELT SECTION OF THE AREA, SO IT'S ALMOST A REQUIREMENT TO HAVE SUCH A VEHICLE ON YOUR PROPERTY! |

Re: Post pics of your 47-59 Chevy trucks!
There sure are some good looking trucks posted here. I think I should start hanging out more here and less in the 67-72 forum.
Here is my 59 GMC. I have owned and driven it since 1989 with the restoration being completed in July 2003. Enjoy I included a 'before' shot as well.

Re: Post pics of your 47-59 Chevy trucks!
Thanks, I really enjoy getting out and driving it. So many people are surprised to look under the hood and not see a V8.

Re: Post pics of your 47-59 Chevy trucks!
Here is one that I took this past weekend at the Autorama. I wasn't too fond of the wheels painted this color but the truck was done very nice. The sign said that all the work was done by the owner.

Re: Post pics of your 47-59 Chevy trucks!
1957 1/2 ton stepside. 235CI, 3 speed on the column. My parents bought it in South Carolina in 2000 for $2500. It is pretty solid all around, with some surface rust and almost no rot. I use it as my bike hauler to take to the track - In the distant future, body work will be done and it will be painted dark green. The bed on it currently is from a '48 GMC I believe, have the original nicer bed sitting waiting for paint. Love these trucks and I wish it was mine.... Oh well, I'll just drive it for free!

My next project. I paid about $2300 with delivery from near Oklahoma to Houston. It came with a bad motor but its complete with all the chrome and stainless pieces. Its a 59 3100 deluxe cab short fleetside. Its just sitting in the corner of the shop for now untill I can get time to work on it

Re: Post pics of your 47-59 Chevy trucks!
Here are two more the first is my current 59 when it was 2WD and our work horse. Photo is taken in Oregon during the time we (me, wife, 4yr and 4 month old daughters) lived in it for 3 months in 1977 traveling the western US. We had a vinyl tube between the cab and camper at the back window. The second is the 1957 I bought in 1969 from GSA. I sold it in 70 when I got drafted.
