All indications point to YES!
The Holy Grail of SPID's is on it's way back to sunny Florida and it's rightful place on Charlie's Truck.
Thanks Eric.

I could still send some heat your way....this is the Strategic Air Command "Football" that Clinton left at my house after a night of heavy drinking.

Re: Saved a rare one!

i gotta ask did you guys know each other before this?(noticed you live a few states apart) if not or either way i think this proves just how amazing this website is ive never seen anything like this before on any site, between the banter (and very creative to boot!) and the fact someone was willing to let a great spid go back to its original truck under a new owner, especially since im sure it took time and money to find it in the first place! it is amazing many people now a days either hoard or are down right rude, including with questions (try asking about a chevy 305 on car craft/hotrod or any other site..). this site communicates friendship, trust and understanding. all tastes are allowed (lowered, lifted stock etc) and i don't think ive ever seen anyone be rude or mean just because, like so many sites i used to be part of.

Re: Saved a rare one!

Great unusual truck and a fantastic story to boot. This website and the folks on it are the best. I hope this truck restoration is published on this site so we can follow it coming back to life. Thanks for the smiles and the humerous banter!

Eric (TooMuchStuff) and I have never met but if we ever do I will be proud to shake his hand and call him my friend. He is one of many, many people on this site that would rather help out a stranger than stick a couple more bucks in their pocket. He agreed to sell it back to me on day 1 and we decieded to have some fun with it. He's basically sending it to me for free. People like him are what makes this forum special and I'm glad to be a small part of it.
We are going to put Charlie's truck back on the road and will keep everyone posted on our progress.
Thanks,
Brad

Re: Saved a rare one!

Which high hump are you looking for? I think I have a big block auto one here in nice shape (No holes cut out) if that would help you out. I also have a good console and a parts console, but they are cup holder ones from later trucks, and still need a little work to be nice.

My Brother and I have to sit down, make a list, count our change and then go shopping. You have the correct hump, the console and most everything else will have to be correct for a 70 GMC. We are waiting on some build data from the factory (fingers crossed) before we get too far.
Thanks everyone...with the history and special paint, might it be one of one?
Would like to hear some expert opinions on this. I know your out there.

Re: Saved a rare one!

It is true, brad and i have never met. I have quite a few highly optioned glovebox doors, and i knew this was one i wanted. I didn't even really offer it right away, but the more i saw his intentions to restore this one of a kind truck, i figured i would make him a deal. I offered up a bunch of parts he was looking for including the original glovebox door, original engine mounts, and the power steering canister from that truck. He almost offered any price for the door. I did have money invested and had to get a little something back and he was happy with the deal i offered up. (i figured he would)
Then we decided t have a little fun with the readers. I hope everyone enjoyed. Just got to thinking, i hope i sent the right door to ya........
