Re: 77 longbed "overbudget" build
well its wensday and block is still on the stand in the garage. Between work and holidays havnt been able to drop it off yet. Im shooting for tomarrow morning. While I have the motor out and front clip apart was thinking of doing the drop on it and possibly cleaning up the wiring in the engine bay. Lil nervous about that tho cause I have wires running everywere and worried that once I start Ill never get it back together lol. Well see about that but deff doing the drop. What is the best way to cut the coils? cut off wheel or a sawsall?

Re: 77 longbed "overbudget" build
i have always used a cutoff wheel, but try both, the sawsall may cut through it better...

Re: 77 longbed "overbudget" build
I have a 270h cam in a 355 I built in college. It made right at 400hp... I really only got it because it was the biggest cam I could use with stock converter. But i like it and would use it again.

Re: 77 longbed "overbudget" build
ok time to revive this build thread.
Alot have happened in the last few months. I got the motor diassembled and sent off the the machine shop around the end of Jan. It got rebored and cleaned then reassebmbled with ARP head bolts, the crank is now chamffered, and the heads were shaved 10,000 due to some warpage. Then I left for JRTC training in Louisianna for the whole month of feb so nothing happened there, Well I got home on the 2nd of march and have really hit the truck hard over the past two weeks. First off I picked up the completed motor all shinney and new again. Got it to the house on sat afternoon and it was in that evening and ready to fire. So i thought...after several days if fighting with it I ended up tearing it back down and finding out that the guy that built the motor put the cam in 170 degrees off!!! Fixed that and she fired right up. I sold my other car and started ordering parts. So far I have finally got my exhaust done right, my lowering kit in. New power steering pump, fresh tune up, I also bought a set of the speaker brackets from here on the board. I also finished my ralley wheel. New centers and rings they look really sharp now. I will post a few pics tonight of the completed wheels and the front drop springs in. Doing the flip kit on the rear tomarrow morning.

Re: 77 longbed "overbudget" build
Hey there everyone been awhile since i did anything with this thread but here are a few updates your you all.
Once again I am deployed this time to afganistan so I am in the parts buying phase again. I am going to change a few things on the motor like go to a EZ EFI setup from FAST, RPM airgap intake,AFR 195's, Headman elite headers with 3" pipes and spintek muffleres. 700R4 with tighter stall Drop the front another 2.5 and the back 2 15x10 rallies in the back with 295's restore interior to mostly stock except for aftermarket gauges and repaint it the same green without the gold, save fuel doors, stake pockets and mold in a roll pan. also looking for a solid back window instead of the slider Will get some of it done in Feb and will deff post pics of it. as always everyone on this forum is amazing and thanks for filling my free time with great squares and information.

Re: 77 longbed "overbudget" build
It wont cost $3500 if you do it yourself, and you have friends that know how to do it. About $1000 to $1500 for air managment, and around another $300-500 on link bars. I'm building mine for my s10, all basicly the same stuff done for around $1000 total for everything! And I'm building my own link bars.
