Fitted and welded the rear driver section of the floor pan. Ground it flush, spot welded the back wall of the cab to its lip the same way, I am going to clean up the scars from the spot weld areas and just leave them, no sense in color matching that area if no one will see.

Like they say, do one thing a day to your project vehicle. Installed the b-pillar piece fully, ground flat. After that I went off to see the new Top Gun.

Wow, I must say this drivers side rocker is all kinds of off. The passenger side rocker needed just a bit of massaging but this side needs a good amount. Got the rear of it settled last night and fit well.
Also received my wiring harness from 'MCB Matt', American Autowire. Great company with a great product and MCB carries it at a great price.

So this is a classic update harness, so all connectors replicate the factory styling, really nice solid connectors, and upgrades to HEI and internally regulated alternator.

Inner rocker is fully welded in and ground, seam sealed the b-pillar and etch and primed it. Felt like I had a somewhat complete truck since the structure was rather complete, so you know I had to stack some wood and see what I'm working with!

Placed the rocker with some sheet metal screws to get the front clip hung and check my gaps, looks pretty good I'd say. The door has some rust separation on the bottom front corner like they normally get, so matching my fender bottom with the rocker is key here. When the door bottom gets replaced I will have it flow all together, but that will be once the truck is running good. Also had to take some glamour shots in the garage.

Can you tell me where you got the patch panels for your lower B-pillars? I need the same patch on both sides, and have only been able to find the complete B-pillars which are a little too expensive for me to buy just to hack the bottom off of.

On the b-pillar pieces you've got two options - the less than desirable black e-coated ones which require tons of work, or the KeyParts ones I have which I literally put directly in place and had to do zero modification. KeyParts left side: 0849-213 L, right side: 0849-214 R. Both can be had on eBay for a good price (about 15+tax+ship). Keep in mind that they are galvanized and you should wear a mask when grinding and welding them, and if Im saying that then you know its serious.

Spent an afternoon disassembling the bumpers and getting the brackets all blasted and cleaned up. Covered in ospho and will be painted hopefully this afternoon. Bought new gravel deflectors, decided to blast the e-coat off them and hit with some epoxy and black paint. I never have trusted e-coat much.

Taking a break from the driver side rocker stuff (need to clear my head on something else for a little), decided to tackle that rust in the cowl from earlier. Cut out the cowl itself to assess the damage, not too bad of a job just repetitive with all those spot welds. Decided at this point I'd like to make the firewall symmetrical. So I began on that too.

Now that the cab side of the cowl is done, moving onto the cowl shell. Marked and cut out the blower hole to fit back onto the cab. Removed the fender mounting tabs. My plan is to sandblast this inner cowl so I can prevent any future headaches. I will also mirror the driver side fender bracket for the passenger side, my intent is to make this look factory.

Going all 'Kustom' on this firewall reimagine. Im not a huge fan of the firewall being bare, so taking an idea from both Delmo & N2Billet (thread here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...486707&page=14) where they took the factory box and sandwiched it. Im dropping mine to 1.5 inches tall, and will put the blower motor face back where it goes, and flatten it in to a delete style plate. Now to get it prepped and fiberglassed.
One thing to note as a difference on mine versus their rendition, mine is for a symmetrical firewall, so I had to shrink the length of it as well, as you can see. Delmo / N2Billet's version:

Made a flat sheet of fiberglass off some glass I had in my basement, cut to shape and basically allowed me to make a good flat reference while getting the outside structure set on the box.
